Hey guys i think its time for this again but thought it be better doing it now as the year is nearly over so i'll take my chance to start this off.

So pretty much i'm going to start a google poll for the players in each position but before i do that i just want to make sure you agree with the 10 nominations.

Rather than make a thread for each position and then a thread for polls (30 total) I'd suggest one thread for discussion that where you keep a list and update it with suggestions, and then make a poll on google docs or something similar.

um that could work, i guess i was just keeping it to what it was like the last time with some changes so. i suppose whatever works best

EDIT: Anyway back to topic who are you thinking for this, do you like the list?

EDIT 2: I wasn't going to make an individual thread with one for discussion and one for the poll, its started off as a discussion then i will start a poll on the same thread,

Good initiative, Scotty:
Dulin over Tuculet every day of the week. But anyhow I *would* like to vote for Ben Smith this year, especially given Folau was a bit more discreet than in recent memory, and Smith's always been his usual BRILLIANT self, it's not a word I just throw out there being generous the guy is pure Rugby brilliance, but Folau still was a handful all year long and there's no substitute for a fullback who beats defenders aaaaall the time, who catches (almost) every single high ball partly because he's a giant 1m96 specimen at fullback, has strength and athleticism like no other, and is a potential nuclear bomb in any given set of 80min.
So still for me: Israel Folau.

My fullback for this year is Willie Le Roux even though having a poor autumn tests he has played very well and is very talented and Israel Folau didn't really done that well this season.

What I'm suggesting is keeping this thread but as discussion for all players. Once the list is compiled (keep it on the first post and just edit it) you can make a google doc with the poll. Saves us from having one thread per position, which just got way too big when we did this six months ago.

fair enough really so i'd say we will do just that :) btw not sure what i should change the first post on this thread into though.

Well some obvious ones-
Rettalick at lock, Sexton at 10, Ben Smith anywhere, Vermuelen at 8
Dubious ones
Creevy at 2, Armitage at 7, Muarry at 9, Wilson at 3, Lawes at lock, Kaino at 6

Just make a list or table with each position and then the suggestions, and update it a few times, like this:
Tighthead Prop
Dan Coles
Samson Lee

Hooker
Bismarck du Plessis
Adriaan Strauss

Are you actually serious or soft trolling us South Africans?

Anyway, how are we going to do this? I can't see any lists? My XV:

15 Bin Smuth
14 Teddy Thommy Bowe
13 Tevita Kuridrani
12 sentimental tip of the cap to retiring JdV
11 Julian Savea
10 Jonathan Sexton
9 Connor Murray
8 Duane Vermeulen
7 Richie McCaw
6 Bernard le Roux
5 Paul O'Connel (tempted to go Lawes but too similar to Retallick and I prefer Retallick)
4 Brodie Retallick
3 no idea, has anyone really stood out? I'd have gone for Herrera just after the RC but he hasn't carried that dominance past rounds one and 2
2 Adriaan Strauss
1 James Slipper and I can't believe I'm nominating an Aussie prop o_O

kudos for FRENCHMAN Bernard Le Roux stormer ;) :p
I guess this won't attract as much attention in this format, but hopefully we get enough votes. Always interesting to look at some of those subjective picks.

My XV, then:

15 Folau
14 North
13 Kuridrani
12 Fofana
11 Savea
10 Sexton
9 Aaron Smith
8 Duane Vermeulen
7 Hoooopaaaah
6 Coetzee
5 Paul O'Connel
4 Brodie Retallick
3 Carl Hayman*
2 Creevy
1 Healy

*The Tighthead position has caused me the most trouble of late, this entire 2014 season. We're witnessing the utter twilight of the great TH generation, all approaching/in their mid 30's: Zirakashvili, Carl Hayman, Nicolas Mas, Adam Jones, Martin Castrogiovanni. Some of the very, very best ever, and with my limited knowledge of all eras I'd still think the best ever generation for scrummaging tighthead props. We're saying goodbye to some MONSTERS of scrumtime. The guys who are coming up either offer good help as forward in the loose and not enough at scrumtime, or the other way around. Or, the occasional injury to a top candidate: I remember Juan Figallo won the last TRF no.3 spot on the XV, haven't seen him in forever since his neck injury...

Some of the very interesting specimens are still too young/inexperienced internationally (Rabah Slimani, Chistolini, Samson Lee) to claim that spot, and those other old bulls have shown flaws as of late consistently over many games in a way that is conclusive.

I'm picking Carl Hayman because he's only this year started to show signs of slowing down in the scrum but is still one of the very very best in the world there don't get me wrong, and has tremendous experience, very good intelligence for a TH, leadership (reminder: captains Toulon) and still offers good work around the park. He's my one pick, but that'll surely change in the following season to come, possibly in some months when another, younger prop has risen to the top of the world Rugby chessboard.

1. Marcos Ayerza
2. Adrian Strauss (Creevy has been getting alot of love but honestly he would not be starting on a team over Strauss or BDP regardless of his current form)
3. Owen Franks
4. Brodie Retallick
5. Courtney Lawes
6. Jerome Kaino
7. Michael Hooper (McCaw was more consistent but Hooper's dynamic play especially during the first half of the year was inspiring)
8. Duane Vermeulen
9. Aaron Smith
10. Jonathan Sexton
11. Julian Savea
12. I'm honestly not sure...if this wasn't about international form I might almost be tempted to go for Matt Giteau
13. Tevita Kuridrani
14. Ben Smith (a poll might be hard for Smith because he might split votes between two positions but his play against SA in the Championship was excellent with the #14 at his back)
15. Mike Brown

5) Awj

7 McCaw
8) Read

:p hehehe..

Scotty's usually pertinent and consistent with his picks, but he's fell prey to Le Roux's sexy bunny hops and occasional DB stat and elusive run, the entire Rugby world has man, that dude got a nom remember ?

I hesitate between :

Brugnaut, Szarzewski, Ducalcon-Kruger, Van der Merwe-Lauret, Claassen, Le Roux-Machenaud, Sexton-Thomas, Dumoulin, Chavancy, Andreu-Dulin

and

Mas, Kayser, Domingo-Papé, Maestri-Dusautoir, Chouly, Le Roux-STB, Lopez-Thomas, Dumoulin, Fofana, Huget-Spedding

:D
