Well how 'bout we appoint either AK47 or dobrien7 (the two most pro-active members) as the inaugural TRF Fifa '08 Shield holder, and individuals can challenge him to take the ***le.

It's best of three and neither player can have a team rated any more than 1 star better or worse than the other. Must use same team until shield is lost? Open only to members of 3 months or more.

How 'bout that?

I suggest AK and first person to challenge him.

Why am I so interested? I'm really curious who's going to be able to stay champ longest.

Haven't played many online matches, so I could be walking into a slaughter house with the likes of AK47. Besides that, I'm still in. Should be good fun.

this weekend I’ll be on all night Friday all day Saturday (GF has her Xmas party on Friday and a baby shower Saturday,) so that’s the all clear for some deft thru balls and top bin hits.

Gameplaywise is FIFA 08 better on 360 than it is on PC.

I had it on PC and it was ****.. Mainly because control was so isometric even when using my gamepad. When reading reviews about the 360 version the graphics and animations and menus certainly sounds different, but my PC version played like it hadn't changed since I fist got FIFA 04 for my PS2...

Have had games against AK and Geto this weekend, good thing is minimal lag with either (NZ to Oz, NZ to UK). Are thinking of having a league/round robin kind of tournament. We'd just have to all pick a team each and then decide whether to set one up through Fifa online, or just have the fixtures listed on here and put results up as we get a chance to play them? Will go see what the dealio is with doing it online now and whether it can be done (ie playing games out of order etc)...

Well that was arse, no matter how many times or how many different ways, Wai Cullen and I couldn't connect to play a game... yet I can play USA, UK and Oz, top broadband that New Zealand.

Oh and good start to G, snuck a 3-1 victory over me, well done mate. My team selection might bite me in the arse lol.

If we are gonna make this bigger then I think we need to choose our sides and make sure that we post them, we also need to choose club or International sides... Maybe even implement a 1 Star difference maximum to make it as fair as possible...

I have played Dobrien a couple of times now and its fair to say we are both Level IMO...

Well the game I had with dobrien was a history making experience

It had everything.

Missed open goals, to nailing headers and bombs outside the box

With 5mins left â€" massive dubious call from ref, called a corner for ak47…balled ricochets 30m, from centre field to go over goal line…..corner is called, fans erupt, debris flows onto the field, dobrien is calling on 3rd ump to no evail……….ak47 silently accepts the call.

Corner is done, and headed into the back net…..only 4 mins left its 2-1

Then in a act from the FIFA gods, and footballing karma police…….Dobriens scorches a header from the line of the box and into the back net in injury time to level it up

We go into penalties, and ak47 is up 3-1….only has 1 more kick to nail the game….

It goes save, save, dobrien and back on sudden death, and we go into our 7-8th kicks, and Dobrien gets the fruits, and wins in an epic…..tyler hadn’t said a word in the shoot-out â€" he was puffed out

Sounds epic! I've had a few of those, once I was 2 nil up in the 75th minute and the ******* I was playing scored 3 goals in the last 15 to take it out. I've also lost 13-12 in a penalty shootout :wall:

Well, I've entered the league and my team is Bayern Munich (don't think I can change it now). It's the only team I use.

Lol no Everton AK? I'll be glad was getting sick of the sight of Yakubu's name and number as he scorched past me time and time again... that was a great game though, even if I'd lost it.

This league is just a dummy one to get the ball rolling, so can easily change teams etc if you want. Once we're sorted with what we're doing we can kick it off, and can add people in along the way am guessing. Might increase number of games per person too, as after losing my pool game to G, thought I'd get revenge, only to be denied by having exhausted all allocated games against him in the league lol! Turns out it wouldnt have mattered as lost my next friendly to him anyway

So it's looking pretty even so far, agree team selection beforehand will help. Any ideas on the trend of not letting anyone use Barca? Seen that a far bit going round on fifa forums, does that worry us? Doesn't me, as haven't noticed a huge difference... yet.

You managed to play anyone WC? God only knows why we couldn't bloody connect last night, that was strange...

I am Chelsea 95%………. I picked everton, as I would feel guilty with the advantage of the .5 star if you tottenham……..Yakubu isn’t a patch on Drogba……..but I will miss my Cahil Expressway

I have no issues with Barca

But we need to fine tune the teams………….ie either agree on 5 and 4.5 teams or just have 4.5 teams (I am sure there are more 4.5, than 5 teams, so we can get more involved)
