Transfers rumours

Tadhg Furlong - Bayonne. Source: presumably Furlong's agent looking to secure a huge new contract. No way the man is let leave the country.
Well this is the Humphreys model. Leinster can only replace him with an IQ so effectively it pay the man what he wants

Gloucester local paper is saying Mercer to Toulon next year (with them buying out the final two years on his contract)

A shame, but not surprising

Probably for the best not given international opportunity, still feel like what he's said has been painted in a far more negative light than was intended, typical media circus, wish him well one of those what ifs, him or Earl starting emptying the tank to bring on a fresh bundle of energy for the last 20 - 25 mins could have been lethal. IMO More than coincidental SA having their recent success with a damn strong bench often being the difference, we are miles behind on building the depth and seem to frequently miss opportunities.

Fissler has Bath after Will Porter, with Spencer not signing a new deal - wonder if he'll go back to Saracens, or go abroad?
Tbf, with Fissler's track record, it probably means Spencer is signing a new deal next week

Also says Ford is about to sign a new deal at Sale, which I'm happy with - thought maybe he'd head abroad for a big payday before retiring(/switching to League) but apparently wants to stay to try and play in the next RWC

Yeah it's "shock, horror, player hasn't signed a new contract in the first week of negotiations"

Would be super surprised if Porter left. He signed as the long term Care replacement, so leaving in Care's last (though he does have a +1 in there) season would be super weird

Quirke being linked with Bath and Saracens

Don't want him to leave but could understand him wanting to draw a line under/get a fresh start after a very disjointed/injury ravaged early career

and now reports that terms have been agreed with Quins, to replace Care

Also some rumours

Quins looking at Kata
Bath and Quins looking at Tuipulotu
Tigers and Sarries looking at Hoskins Sotutu
Varney to Vannes

Care explicitly mentioned Prem clubs going after Tuipilotu on the BBC podcast this week - not sure if that is the "source", or if him mentioning it actually gives it some weight.

Given Care hasn't looked great this year, I doubt he'll be getting his 1 year option triggered tbh, would make sense for us to pick up another SH. Porter has been really good though, so I hope he is staying on as starting 9, especially with Quirkes fitness

Wonder if that hints that one of their current crop is off - be hard to keep Redpath, Lawrence, Ojomoh and Tuipolutu all happy
Or is it more because Redpath spends as much time on the physio table as on the pitch so they want the extra depth
It's either agent talk, or seriously worried about losing Lawrence to Quins.
My money is on the former - comfortably.

Out of interest, whilst we're talking about them - does anyone know if the various Tuipulotu's out there are related?
Wales have a prop, Scotland have a couple of centres (who I'm confident are brothers), and England have a hooker - it wouldn't surprise me if they were all Sateki Tuipulotu's kids, but I don't actually know.

ETA: of course, if they are, then Bath having Kepueli could easily be enough of a 2+2 for Fissler to tell us all.
