Our Media guy at Red Bulls on our forum stated the figures banded around in the media for Quirke are vastly inflated and not true. I think these reporters just pull figures from the sky and go with it.

I mean I wouldn’t put it past Mark Smith to spin it more positively

Personally, I don't trust any of those figures.
We don't KNOW that Hodge was offered £250k by Exeter, nor that he moved for more money
We don't KNOW that Quirke was offered £300k by Sale, nor that Newcastle offered £400k

I generally take these things with a huge lump of salt; and both of the above would be being over-paid for the lower figure.

Exactly, i would like to thing if we are paying £400K to anyone they would be our marquee player. This season we have to increase our squad size, as currently we must have the smallest squad in the league. We will do this by spending up to Cap, for the first time in god knows how many years.

Yeah it’s easy for Mark to deny as the wages won’t ever be public

Being very British about £, I’d hate to be Norwegian where summaries of every citizen’s taxable earnings, assets and tax paid are published. Anyone can look at anyone else’s although self-policing to an extent as you do get to see who’s been nosying around your records.

Transparency is definitely overrated, but hard to think Sarries would have happened in that kind of climate.

Matty Devine - Connacht To Ulster
Joey Carberry - Bordeaux To Ulster
Brian Gleeson - Munster to Connacht/Ulster (Has requested)
John Hodnett - Munster to UK
Tony Butler - Munster to released
Paddy Patterson - Munster to Pro D2
Gleeson just signed a 2 year extension with Munster.

Or someone finally told Red Bull there is a cap and they can't just buy a title.
I read comments like this from various fans all around the country for a few weeks now, You are all terrified that the Red Bulls wont be the league whipping boys any longer, dragging other clubs into the mela of who will finish bottom.
I've said it before and I'll say it again for the first time in years we will have the capacity to spend up to the same cap as the rest of the teams in the league, who have done so for many years.
We have a small squad and we are in the process of filling it out and spending up to cap which will make us competitive again. We can only spend the same as every other club.
I'm looking forward to perhaps finishing mid table next season and seeing who is in the scrap at the bottom. In two to three years time when we are challenging for a title no doubt we will continue to hear that we have bought a title no different to when Saracens cheated their way to titles and Bath with the money and squad they have.
One thing you wont hear from me is making comments like "What is the point of them being in the league" "They should be relegated" because we've been in this position, and i think we all know the league will be ring fenced.

Quins and Glaws are perfectly capable of stinking out the place, but having a few quid and a load of players is no guarantee of anything. NRB should be more competitive (and I hope they are) but don’t underestimate the challenge for the coaching team in melding these individuals together into a team, many of who will be a long way from home which also takes some adjustment. Suspect there will continue to be a fair bit of player flow before it all beds down.

Absolutely, its going to take years before we are challenging for anything and us Red Bull fans know this. At the fans forum the club themselves stated it. It will be a slow process of development for both the team and facilities. But the goal stated was we will be challenging for European titles in the next 5 years

Two of the key factors for me is the update of the stadium - the north and East stands. And also the academy, its very important to me that a big part of the squad is homegrown. Top international signings dont actually get me going as much as watching some homegrown young lads smashing it on the pitch and making the jump up to international level.

Hell, Bath were perfectly capable of coming 13th (and lucky to get that) in a league of 13, whilst spending the full cap + allowances.

Surely we all know that jokes about Newcastle and the cap are exactly that... jokes (for now, at least)
At least it'll be a change to hearing we shouldnt be in the league as we have no money.

Yeah it's prob nice other team supporters are joking about you instead of being sorry for you
I be honest finishing mid table next season would be a massive achievement for Falcons considering that the whole squad will be fresh and a new head coach.

Even Gloucester are building up their pack with Lake, Kleyn, Joyce and Morgan coming in.

I hope you've never heard that seriously said - though I suspect you probably have.
Personally, I don't think you should be in the league due to having finished last (and I said the same about Bath, and every other club who's finished last in a season).

Yeah you'd be amazed the things i have heard at various grounds...

I totally agree about the relegation aswell. I suspect in this case, it was part of the Red Bull Deal, that involved the Prem league Board...shall we call it black mail?

We'll invest in the club and league but we dont get relegated.
