Transfers rumours

But my point is it's built on massive cash injections. These investors inject as they want returns in the form of success. And don't care if players are french or foreign as long as the club is successful.
Is Top 14 the best league around? Easily yes. But the fact is it is more a soccer model now in terms of all the imports and it's very possible you will see a big club hit financial trouble.

Massive case injection? Like Ulster in the Pro12? Saracens in the Aviva Premiership?

I was equally devastated when Leinster secured private funding of over €2m for the building of their gym and headquarters. When private funding also paid part of Jamie Heaslip and Sean O'Brien's salaries to remain in Dublin, it was the final straw. Leinster are a bunch of mercenaries.

For example IF Boudjellal got bored and pulled out of Toulon they wouldn't survive the current spending solely on revenue from gate receipts and competition revenue and TV deals.
@FrenchFan there's some players that have started a lot more games here in Ireland and I wouldn't class them as spearheading a team. But if you disagree then fair enough.
@Gaston again that's a superb post with good points.

who else? Boudjellal and Lornzetti?

I think almost everyone else is funded through multiple sponsorship deals, Tolouse iirc is funded by a collective that manages their sponsorship, that's one of the reason there has been such a power struggle within tolouse as it was all changing hands.

Though gaston and French fan know better than me... i'm pretty sure that most clubs are in a position to continue as normal if the president resigned/left.

I may be completely wrong though.

But my point is them big sponsorship deals are the same they carry huge risk. For example again Michelin and Clermont. If they went bust it'd effect them.

Snoop the difference is in Leinster like Munster and Ulster were a lesser extent. The training camps are universities. The university of Limerick payed for all their upgrades and then have an agreement with Munster. Same is for UCD and Leinster. The point also I know Sexton is getting some funding from private sector but overall it's not a case where we will ever be at risk of going bust in any of the provinces. Connacht are even secure. The private funding is a deal on sale of imaging rights of player. A business transaction.
@Gavin I don't usually single a club. Saracens are a team that have plenty of input from abroad but majority of Aviva is good.

doubtful, large sporting teams like tolouse and Clermont will always find sponsorship and that's really what are the chances of Michelin and EADs going bankrupt? They are contracted in, so the clubs have plenty of time to pull in more sponsors.

I can understand concern for clubs where it's all in one basket ala Toloun, but that's not the case in most of the French clubs - but again i might be wrong mate, i really don't know enough about that side of the game here.

Just wish we could get shut of Blanco and find a way forward to join in the fun that he is preventing!!!

Good luck to those who have sustainable financial base that BO and Bayonne do not have!!

Rumors but oh, man I hope they have some truth to them and get realized.

http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/Super15/WP-keen-to-sign-Bok-trio-20150611

Marcel Coetzee and Pieter-Steph du Toit, Sharks --> WP/Stormers
Cornal Hendricks, Cheetahs --> WP/Stormers. Now this one I can believe everything considered.

If only we can retain Kitshoff somehow:

1 Kitshoff
2 Ntubeni
3 Koch
4 Etzebeth
5 Du Toit
6 Coetzee
7 Kolisi
8 Carr
9 Vermaak
10 Goosen
11 Senatla
12 De Allende
13 De Jongh
14 Hendricks
15 Kolbe

is a VERY!! exciting line-up. Under a new coach and without the old guard maybe we can add some attacking intent to our steady game.

The sponsorship deals in France are massive and Michelin will not pull out of Clermont never, they will not go bust, neither will Eads with Toulouse, at Montpellier Mon.Altrad has just been named Entrepreneur of the World 2015 which has to be won it is not a reward, he joined the Billionaires club last year and is staying with Montpellier, most of the clubs are very solid financially and with new TV rights there will be even more money coming in and of course this brings in the fight in the pecking order of sponsorship and partner deals. Whatever happens French clubs are more solid these days than ever before, and they are now all working from a very solid base, so to dream about them going broke or people pulling out ( if they do there is a list of replacments) is more fantasie, especially now and in the foreseeable future.

I don't think the top 14 is the best league around tbh . I prefer the AP even if Leicester aren't playing . The AP as a whole is better imo . When I've watched the top 14 it's a bit of a joke . Seems no one is able to win away from home they fluctuate in and out of form like 10 year olds . Half the games are just arm wrestle matches tbh

but when it comes to European rugby they seem to be on top SORRY ARE ON TOP and thats always been the case from the very start. how many teams from the UK have won in france in the Champions Cup very few.love to here the explanation of how its a bit of a joke that could turn out to really embarrasing for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, could I ask that we drop it and get back on topic? There's no problem with bandying about your thoughts but this is not the thread for THAT discussion. Rather open up a new thread if anyone feels compelled to do so to further the discussion.

Anyone heard about signings coming to Wasps? Someone piped up saying 1 good and 1 great, someone twitted Fissler who suggested that at least one of those stories is going to be the rugby paper.

I read on one of the Worcester forums that there is a little rumour that Charlie hodgson could be on his way to the club, but that signing doesn't really make sense since we already have lamby, heathcote and nacho
