What a negative 30 man squad! Evidence that Tony Ward is an idiot.

Leaving out Jones/Horgan and Murray/Stringer for Paddy Wallace and O'Leary is no less than criminal.

Including Hayes and M O'Driscoll is pretty stupid as well. Unfortunately we're not spoiled for choice at number 3 so maybe Hayes is the right choice (I'd go for Hagan though). I don't fall for this "the Bull is back" crap based on 1 game. We could bring McLaughlin, Toner, Doncha Ryan, Coughlan ahead of M O'Driscoll. And of course bringing Leamy instead of Jennings is literally insane!

I hate this old man conservative attitude Ward and other old farts have that "this world cup is too soon for the likes of Murray". ********! He's been our best scrumhalf for months. Give him a bloody chance! He deserves it more than O'Leary.

Well thank god Tony Ward isn't in charge then. What is worrying is how close this is to what steady Deccie will pick.

Where's Murray,Jones,Horgan.Even Fionn Carr or Neven Spence.God,Tony Ward is a fool

The strange thing is in the article he says he'd take people like Jones.

why have people suddenly taken against O'Leary so much these days?

after a couple of nasty injuries he's dipped in form, that's understandable

Tomas O'Leary was never anything special. Since 2009 he's gone from ok to not great to bad to shocking. He really is a terrible scrum half.

Mincer is going. He's going because they'll take a third player capable of playing fly-half in case the two incumbents get knocks (unlikely, I know) which means they have to sit out one or two games. Mincer can cover that where calling up a new player would rule out one of Sexton/ROG for the rest of the tournament, which would be a big blow for Ireland. The only way he's not going is if Kidney decides O'Leary can cover fly-half.

I completely accept he's a lucky boy to be going, as his form is nothing special. There are plenty of other backs in better form. But none offer covering 10.

That said, I'd also bet on Donnacha Ryan on going in much the same fashion, as a lock/6 makes a hell of a lot of sense and he's been doing it better than anyone else.

hed be quicker passing if he ran to the out half and handed it to him that said reddans nearly as bad

I dont think o'learies that bad but hopefully he will improve his passing beforehand the world cup.
Also reddan is good but has made good few mistakes juring the six nations.
Isaac boss is more of a impact sub.
Declan will most likely bring john hayes and mick o driscoll ( even thought they are useless) they have the most experience and john hayes can still hold up a scrum.
Also to the guy who made first post? whats wrong with paddy wallace?

Paddy Wallace is average at best. A waste of space. McFadden fulfills the Paddy Wallace role of a utility back but he's much more talented.

Except he's never played outside half and thats what Wallace is going as. The third fly-half. And other stuff, but that's Wallace's trump card onto the airplane.

If you're looking for someone to take as 3rd flyhalf surely that should be iHumph?
Doesn't have the versatility of Wallace, but a much better 10

i think this is the squad he thinks kidney will pick hence the safe choices

I agree with you King that to many people think players that are showing so much ability "not ready for the WC" When is the right time for a player to go to the world cup? When hes young, talented and full of ambition and confidence or when hes older and experienced. How do we expect to develop world class players and give them experience when we don't play them untill they are 25 and out of form?

Strange how Murray is the best 9 in Ireland at the moment and noone mentions him.
O'Leary is in awful form but in fairness Reddan has been nearly as bad as him if we give an honest opinion.
Boss deserves his seat, Stringer I think has shown us he can be a massive asset off the bench and Murray I think has earned his chance.

And everyone knows either Donnacha Ryan or Kev McLaughlin are definites for the plane

I like Paddy Wallace...he tries hard and is pretty decent player in my estimation.
Nice guy too.
