2011 Rugby World Cup final 30 man squads

Tonga'uiha is a great runner but hes hardly the best scrummaging prop going, its not all about highlight plays. he should have a good battle on his hand for the 1 jersey with Taumalolo.. Nilli Latu, Kisi Pulu and Viliame Ma'afu are better players imo. Joe Tuineau will probably be the most important forward though.

If you'd watched NH rugby this season, you would not have typed that.

Sale will be better off without Buckley :p

With the exception of Lewaravu/Ostrikov Sale don't particularly need any of the internationals (with Lewaravu/Ostrikov off it means that we're a little short on locks, meaning our lock/6s have to be full time locks, then leaving us a little light in the backrow - also Powell and Vernon away leaves us a little light at 8, with just Easter there)

You don't need Sheridan? I'm surprised by how blase you are about this, its a massive chunk of players missing and Sale's squad was hardly the strongest anyway. I'd have thought this could hurt a lot, and possibly be decisive in a relegation battle.

We didn't have Sheridan the whole of last season, Imiolek and Croall did as well as him in the scrum, and while he'll be missed in open play, as I said, we've done okay without him last season
As I said, 4/5/6/8 is where we're hit the most - Hendre Fourie is being trialled at 6 tomorrow night, so if that works out then it helps a bit, leaving McKenzie/Myall at Lock, Fourie/Seymour/Easter as the backrow, and the Gaskell covering lock and 6 on the bench, along with Neil Briggs covering 7 (he was a seven before becoming a fulltime Hooker, but played 7 in the last two warmups)
Fingers crossed Easter doesn't get injured though, as with Powell and Vernon gone, and no one else having played any 8 before, we're screwed if he gets injured

In the backs we'll be missing Cueto (but Amesbury/Brady/Addison/Tuculet play wing) and Lavea (Macleod and Miller player FH) and Leota (Tonetti, Tuitupou, and Burrell all play 12) so it's not that bad

to be fair to Olyy, Sale have had to do without Sheridan for pretty much all of the last two seasons, it would hardly be something Sale aren't used to, although they do seem to be short on looseheads for the WC period

the loss of Powell and Vernon will stretch their back row resources too, I think when they signed them it looked like only one of them at most would go to the WC but now both are going

the Sale team will be something like this during the WC period

15. Tuculet
14. Brady
13. Burrell
12. Tuitupou
11. Amesbury
10. MacLeod
9. Peel
1. Imiolek
2. Ward
3. Thomas
4. McKenzie
5. Myall
6. Gaskell
7. Fourie
8. Easter

The Saints have a rock solid scrum indeed, but i've watched Tonga'uiha closely and i don't rate his technique. He relies on his raw weight a bit too much for my liking but the fact that he has the strength of the most powerful lock on the planet concentrated through him serves to flatter. (A solid scrum can very rarely be put down to the loosehead prop in any case)

He generally plays a bit too high and loose around the field for mine also, hes more talented than Taumalolo but i think the latter's enthusiasm for the dirty work and pure mongrel around the field and in the rucks would better serve Tonga in their gritty do or die game against France. (I sort of liken the selection scenario to Ruben Thorne vs Jerry Collins. It depends on the other players you can put around them and the team you're facing).

These are just opinons after all, i have gathered them after watching the dude and you may not agree with them. But just coming right in and making ignorant assumptions about me? **** right off.

I am no scrummaging expert. However, I can point to a number of very good and dominant scrums that got absolutely pulverised by Northampton this year, with a lot of the penalties being awarded on Tiny's side. His scrummaging, dodgy technique or no, isn't a weakness. Even when opposition props get his number technique wise, they rarely push him around. I have no idea how good Taumalolo is in the scrum, he might well be better, but Tiny's plenty good.

Also, I assume you refer to Lawes there? He's not. I wish he was but he's not. He's not even the most powerful lock in the Premiership. Plus Hartley does not strike me as a good scrummaging hooker. He certainly isn't for England.

Argentina call Genaro Fessia to replace injured Alvaro Galindo in the back row.

Can someone edit the first post with all the full squads? Even if it's with Duck's new template with less data. (editing is back, btw)
