The Ulster Thread

Hahahahahahaha!!!

Hard luck bud, as if he was trying to lose you money!

I know but if he had got that kick with the way other results have gone I'd have turned 2 euro into 1000.

Anyway, the Championship and having Ferris back is going a long way to help me get over it.

With Ferris back it does start to make things interesting.

6: Ferris, Henderson
7: Henry, Diack, Doyle
8: Wilson, Williams

We now have too many back rowers really. Ferris - Henry -Wilson with Williams off the bench seems the best out of that, but that would mean dropping Diack who has been very influential in many of our games as well as Henderson unless he moves to cover second row. Doyle has been pretty impressive too recently and he's probably the most 'true' 7 in the squad.

Ireland:
16: Ferris, O'Mahony, Henderson
7: O'Brien, Henry, TO'D
8: Heaslip, Ruddock

Again, Ferris - O'Brien - Heaslip would be in my opinion our most effective back row, but O'Mahony and Henry have been exceptional for Ireland.
So far the most obvious thing is to permanently move Henderson to the second row if he is going to get any sort of consistent game time.

Competition in a squad is great, but can there be too much of it?

I'm not too clued in with the usage of players in and out of the international window but Henderson, Ferris and Henry would be with Ireland during those times, which leaves you with Diack, Doyle, Wilson and Williams. However, they are all good quality and wouldn't be surprised to see someone move off.

Ireland - Has Ruddock played 8 much? I'd keep him at 6. He seems like a pure 6 and his best form has been there. The thought of him at 8 doesn't sound too impressive. I'd be more inclined to move O'Brien to 8 if Heaslip were to get an injury.

6. POM/Ferris/Henderson
7. SOB/Henry/TOD
8. Heaslip/SOB

I think Henderson should be kept in the second row tbh. We are overcrowded with quality back rows who are also strong ball carriers like Henderson. We aren't as blessed in the second row. Very appetizing thought to think we'd have powerful ball carriers across each section of the forward pack with Healy, Henderson, Ferris, and O'Brien. One things for sure, our back row is going to be strong regardless of what the coaches choose to do.

Not really th eright place but I can't wait to see a backrow of Fez SOB and Heaslip again.

New tighthead prop for next year; Wiehahn Herbst.

I've gotta confess, I don't know anything about the man - anyone care to fill me in a bit please?

Is young for prop but bit of a journey man and well if it's a direct replacement for Afoa it's a big drop in standard.

How can he be a journeyman if he has played professional rugby for the Sharks for his whole career?

Easy way putting it!
Billy Holland has played whole career for Munster. But I'd consider him a journeyman. I'll let you work it out.
Also the Sharks dropped him from their roster he's only with Natal Sharks Currie Cup squad.

Know a Ulster/Sharks fan who is pretty bloody pleased about this.

As a Sharks fan I am disappointed. Dragons should have gone after him though...
Can understand, with Adriaanse ahead of him now.

Just saw Ulster team for this weekend. 2 things I'm interested in.
1. Williams and Ferris start together with Henry. Now that will be fun.
2. Interesting to see Paul Marshall only on bench especially considering Piennar is out

It appears to be dry in Cardiff tonight so could be the perfect night to let loose that loose trio along with a very dangerous looking backline.

It looks like Heaney is now second choice? Unless Marshall is carrying a ****le.

Paul Marshall still plays like a 10 year old, hence why Heaney is now 2nd choice.

Dung first half, improved a bit the 2nd, then looked decent for about 5 mins around the 70 mark and a wee bit in overtime.

Looked for all the world like a team with two eyes on next week. That attitude usually comes back to bite, b0ll0x:(
