First time I've sat down and watched Konta this year.
She's improved out of all recognition! She was decent before, but so much more subtle, disguised, unpredictable...

And a very winnable semi final. She’s playing well again and great chance to get to the final, with the most likely against Halep.

Also another Rafa v Roger semi. Don’t expect too much from Roger v Rafa over 5 sets and on clay. Roger’s won the last 5 v Rafa, but they were all on hard courts, so expecting the winning run to come to an end and another Rafa v Novak final. Novak still the only one with a chance to beat Rafa on Phillippe Chatrier court.

And Halep the defending champion is out. Beaten by a 17 year old American.

If Konta can win her semi tomorrow then she could face Barty of Australia who has been in great form this year.

Women’s draw is so much more open and unpredictable compared to the men’s.

Sweet revenge for Roger over Novak last night to end Djokovic’s participation at the ATP World tour finals and hand Rafa the end of year number 1 ranking. Possible Nadal v Federer semi tomorrow if Medvedev can do Rafa a favour and beat Zverev tonight.

.

History made that year by Michael Chang. Coming back from severe cramp in this match to beat the world number 1 at the time and then go onto to win his first and only Grand Slam at Roland Garros. To become and remain to this day the youngest male grand slam champion and also in the context of the Tiananmen square Massacre. Truly historic.

Tennis should unify the surface. All world-ranking tounaments should be played on hard surface.

Why don’t you write to the ATP, ITF and WTA to make your proposal?

FYI around 60% of tennis ranking tournaments are played on hard courts. There are Upsides like easier maintenance of the courts and uniform bounce of the ball, but also downsides to it like the greatest effect on players joints - such as knees and ankles. Federer’s season has ended because he needed another knee op perhaps linked to playing on hard courts too much.

And also it makes tennis more challenging switching surfaces and adapting style of play. Many would argue for more grass court and clay court tennis like Rafael Nadal.
