The Tea thread

Growing up I got accustomed to both Chinese tea (jasmine) when in Asia and English tea when in Europe. I'm not fussed what brand I drink. Whatever's on offer or in the cupboard will do me fine, milk, no sugar. At night I might have digestives to go with English tea. I always somehow over dip and it's impossible to fish out the bit that falls in :( then there's this soggy mushy mess at the end of the cup. I eat it anyway.

I also like green tea. I drink it especially when I'm feeling under the weather/sick/hungover.

In the last few years I've been pretty addicted to Oolong Milk Bubble tea. It's so damn yum. I can't explain it. Can't get it in Ireland though, which is a bummer.

I'm keen on black tea or variants. Whittard had an awesome blend of Vanilla, hibiscus and Rosehips. But no longer on sale now. So recently it's Earl Grey

Chocolate covered bacon...mmmmmmmmmm... :)

Okay - back on topic:

Tea - loose or in wee baggies? Discuss.

ooh, not bad...it doesn't seem to have fooled anyone quite yet, but it appears we're still in the game...so: what do Mexicans have for breakfast during winter season, would you reckon the Japanese have at one point had a tea-related god in their mythology and how would you personally justify chocolate's objective superiority over vanilla as a flavor ?

I'll have to get back to you on those questions. Just got off work, having a bit of whin...I mean, wine, and now I wanna take a nap.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

@TRF_stormer2010 - Firstly, thank you for your generous offer! That was very kind of you. But no need - I am well familar with rooibos and it is readily available here (both plain and in blends). But thank you for the reminder - I don't have any on hand atm, and so will pick some up this weekend! It is a very good tea. :)

You'd have been more than welcome. It's a good tea, yes; in that it's good for you, taste-wise though.. I won't be claiming to 'know my tea' but it works for me even if it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Am I the only one here who prefers hot chocolate to both tea and coffee ?,

I love hot chocolate - gained five pounds last winter drinking huge mugs of it while relaxing with a good book and warm blanket (reading, of all things, the Hamish Macbeth cozy murder mysteries). I got out of the habit over the summer, lost five pounds, and now the cold is starting up again, soooo...

Better unpack my fat pants! :D

*crowd goes "awwwww !!..*

Note: I would've preferred we made a thread called "The Three Teds" in stead of this where we discuss the most eminently important "Teds" to have ever existed in history, but you can't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you get what you need.

@dasNdanger, you might want to try some Rooibos from Cape Town. It is naturally 'decaf' and the methods of farming through to distribution are very well regulated...

I just want to thank you again for the rooibos reminder! Picked up a box of organic rooibos at the local 'health market', and have been enjoying it for a few nights now. What I like about this tea is that I can add sugar and milk to it just like black tea, but without the caffeine and acidity. I am very happy. :) (I'm hoping this also helps with my husband's heartburn, etc - I'm weaning him, without his knowledge - off of caffeine coffee. I'm hoping the combination of less caffeine and rooibos will help him with his tummy!)

Oh, LOL. Well, you mean him good anyway. I drink mine without milk but with a dollop of honey. But I can't think of tea now, it's the middle of summer here and I am struggling to stay cool(ish) as is without mental pictures of steamy cups of tea and snuggling up with a book and blanket in front of a fire.. okay, I'm of for a swim..

LOL! But can't you drink rooibos on ice? A tall glass of iced rooibos with honey and lemon? Sounds refreshing! :)

I'm a green tea man. I know quite a few people who drink it, only for the reputed health benefits, but i genuinely find it more refreshing than black tea.

I drink a milky tea with sugar in it for a treat or when socialising though. Preferably with a digestive. Nyesss my boy

Got me mam one of those collections of loads of different varieties of tea for christmas last year. Chai, earl grey, the whole shebang. Personally I found it very hard to but a lovely cup of Lyons.
