The Tea thread

Yorkshire Tea and I always keep a box of M&S gold blend close as well.

Then I have a selection of loose leafs that I dip into when the mood takes me.

I have to drink decaf - so what's the best? (Currently we drink Barry's decaf.)

The Britishness of this thread.

I drink Miles tea, not beacuse I'm an ego maniac who only drinks it cos it has my name on it. Its nice I say

I do drink either PG Tips or Tetley tea they seem to be the most popular in Scotland, well its the one most off the people I know drink anyway.

Tea is rubbish Coffee is not much better. But PG Tips seams to be the tea of choice among my Family and work colleges that drink tea.

Your names is Miles? Weird...every time I look at your user name I just assume your name is Salma Hayek, because for some reason that's how it sounds in my head. (OH! I get it! Iain Miles. Doh!)

Well I do prefer one thing to both tea and coffee and that is Whiskey ;)

Oh come on, you could have called this thread "TeaRF" but no!
Just brewing up a cup of PG Tips (easiest to get over here) but don't mind a Tetleys. Yorkshire is more difficult to find, same with Glengetti (either find an importer or find the next expat to visit and put in a request).

Milk, no sugar. Used to add it, but prefer the taste without now. Also partial to a coffee early afternoon; again, no sugar, just milk (also French press with self-ground beans, no peasant-tier preground). Afternoon tea would be an Earl Grey, nice interesting flavour to always gives the afternoon a kick. Evening is back to regular black tea.

What's everyone's favourite dunking biscuit?

Can't beat a hobnob.

Black tea, brewed for 3 minutes. Do not use boiling water, only hot water (approx. 75 degrees).

putain.....

quit it das, you drink coffee, you're normal, not British !

Aye, I drink coffee in the morning (alas, decaf), but often have tea in the evening with a sweet goodie. Also, I drink tea whenever I read a British murder mystery 'cozy'. :)

I agree with most, but it has to be hot water. No more than 100 degrees, too hot and it gets bitter, but too cold and you're just dying the water.

meh heh hoo hoo, so fancy ! I'd do a very ridiculous dance for you now to taunt you, you know, step sideways one foot in the air, the other on the ground, then change, with my hands on my waist...you're lucky this is just a forum !!
nyways tea will never compare to coffee. Not talking about personal taste; but depth in flavor, the variety, it's just a higher quality product...it's like caramel and chocolate. Caramel's nice, but chocolate just operates on a different level, simply. Tea's much more healthy though, this I learned the hard way...even with all my present restrictions, green tea is actually allowed.

Hey just for curiosity's sake, do you guys over there know about French coffee ? You know, the tiny glasses with a very dark, very concentrate coffee, like, 3 or 4 sips only ? I thought maybe in some artsy fartsy French styled "caffés" ths has got there.

When you boil water it takes a lot of the oxygen out of it and that affects the taste. You need oxygen present to get the most out of the tea leaves. People think I am mad in work when I rush to the kettle to turn it off before it has finished - though they have never complained about my tea-making skills.

How many cups do you guys get through a day usually I to 6 cups a day, I don't drink tea after 1PM though (Usually)

Best biscuit for dunking (Outside of kitkat chunky) Rich tea are pretty damn good, Hobnob add something different though.
