Good news for Sharkie fans - http://www.supersport.com/rugby/super-rugby/news/110203/Hargreaves_may_be_ready_for_opener
Lock Allistair Hargreaves may be ready to take his place in the Sharks team for the Super Rugby opener against the Cheetahs in Durban on 19 February.
There were fears that Hargreaves might be out for a lengthy period after he injured his back in the defeat to the Lions in the Neo Africa Tri-Series at Newlands on Tuesday night. The Springbok spent the night in a Cape Town hospital and Sharks management feared the worst as specialists tried to source the problem.
However, late on Tuesday night the scans were returned with the good news that there had been no structural damage to Hargreaves' spine and he will now be ruled out of rugby for just a couple of weeks. There is a chance he will be ready for the tournament kick-off.
That is good news for the Sharks as Ross Skeate, the man who would stand in for Hargreaves if he was absent, has been ruled out of the game. The former Stormers second row forward fractured a finger against the Lions but should be ready to play in the second round of the competition.
That does still leave the Sharks in a bit of a pickle in terms of who plays second row in Saturday's final Neo Africa match against the Stormers. The team will be announced later on Thursday afternoon.
