Ok. Only thOk. Only the top three were mentioned in the link I will provide shortly, so for those of you who haven't seen them yet, I'm going to do a dramatic countdown! :bleh!:

Number Three!

Shane Williams: The Welsh Wizard.

He's been called a wizard by commentators many times before, but, playing in the best form of his career, Shane finally lived up to that ***le in this tournament. He scored the winning tries against Ireland, France and Scotland and became the top try scorer in this years tournament; and the top try-scorer in Welsh history, over-taking Gareth Thomas in the final game agaisnt France.
Shane has become reknown worldwide for his speed, and he certaintly didn't disappoint, running at 23mph to score his breakaway try against Les Bleus. He scored a total of six tries in the tournament overall, and won the man of the match award against Ireland after a superb try and his workrate in the game, taking over for Mike Phillips at scrum-half after the no.9 was sent off.

In my opinion, this is a spot-on top three.

So, discussion time! :bana:
And here http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_unio...lsh/7305002.stm is the link I promised you.

was always going to be a tough one. I think that reflects my thoughts though. Can't think of many wings better than Williams in the Northern Hemisphere. Equally, Parisse and Jones were the bench mark no8's of the tournament, with Parisse probably being the better of the two.

I have always been one of his fans, great job Shane. Deserved!!

I think Sergio as well has dimonstrated to be such a great player, really impressing.

I'm really happy for Sergio...He is the most important player for Italy and maybe the strongest Number 8 in the world!

Well done to Williams, bloody good player, best winger in the world imo. Scores some breathtaking tries.

Don't let Ripper hear you say that!
He'll get all his school friends on you and evict you to the Northern Hemisphere!

yeah, perfect top three to be honest. Shane has been my favourite player since I was about 6 or 7. Fantastic tries throughout the tournament. Parisse is just pure class, probably one of the best no.8's around, and has been the standout Italian player (Marcato as well, he's has shown that there's some fantastic young potential in Italy as well). And Ryan Jones isn't quite as good as Parisse, but has been an inspirational Captain, and has played and Captained his side fantasticly (just look at the result!)

Nah, i'll just do what I do every year. Mock him, wait until we play Wales, than laugh as our 2nd string winger's score a hat-tricks on him and toss him around like a rag doll (with his shaven head it is also easier to bounce Rugby ball's off him - very considerate of him).

Than, i'll wait until the 6 Nations when he carve's up Italy, which somehow suddenly makes him the best in the world (kind of like how the form Northern team of the November tour is the always the one which doesn't play us - sometimes called the 2006 Irish Team effect) and let the cycle repeat itself.

I'm very happy for Sergio Parrisse, in first position was better, but the second position is a great pride for italian rugby fan.
Good rugby from Italy
Ps: sorry for my very bad english

Parisse should have been player of the tournament, he was epic in every game and while Williams played well, a winger needs the support of the rest of his side to be able to play well. Parisse did it all on his own.

Yeah but I think they were talking about players from their actual countries, not those stolen from Fiji/Tonga/Samoa.

Maybe NZ should work on replacing all of the white refs with islanders too, that way you wouldn't have had Barnes miss that forward pass and the bitterness levels down there wouldn't be so high.

LOL. The stolen player card never wears off does it? If that's the only way you guys can try and get on our nerves that's rather sad, considering it's completely false.

I'll humour you for a little bit for ****'s and giggles, mainly because i'm bored - name me some of these stolen players...

and yet, wales got where in the wc?

i truely love the stolen players card too. how about we merge this topic with the northern vs southern club cup thread too....

Don't take this off-topic please, if you're going to post, at least let it be remotely related to the original discussion. Noikz, Ripper, Sambad, bringing New Zealand into the topic is pretty much dragging it away from the point. So shut it, Goddamnit!
