Have taken too long to start this thread.

The Lions season so far? Dissappointing. Not because they have only won one game, but because except for the games against the Blues and the Force, all the games they lost could have been won if it were not for some pretty average goal kicking, the Lions often leaving more than 10 points on the field, when games lost have (except for the ones mentioned above) all been within 7 points.

For this reason John Mitchell is going to bring in a specialized kicking coach, as even the usually reliable Andre Pretorius suffered against the Reds this past weekend.

Players from the Lions to watch are: Joshua Strauss, Michael Killian, Jaco Taute, Doppies La Grange, Lionel Mapoe, Jacob Taute, Elton Jantjies, Derrick Minnie and Warren Whitely

Now the Sharks play the Lions this week, and it would be soooo typical of us to go out and lose this one, possibly even by a big margin (see Cheetahs 2009)

Yeah, they're goal kicking has been terrible; certainly was the difference in the game against us at Newlands.

All in all though they have been more competitive but I think most people who knew something of them expected more. Not a lot more but certainly one or two more; I personally have thought them capable of beating at least the Force at Ellis Park.

I doubt you guys (Sharks) will be off your game by enough to fall to the Lions; you have had some time to adjust and after 3 straight losses surely the boys will be very keen to do the Lions over. The same can be said of the Sharks WRT goal kicking. Has not been great and could have won you two of the games you lost or at least have brought you close enough for that final effort to have counted.

The lions are one of those teams that can surprise a team at any time of the tournament. They are looking a far better team than previous years and are really getting better. They are a group of young and energetic players that are gaining valuable experience with each game off the competition.

They will certainly be fired up for the game against the Sharks this weekend but the Sharks are a quality side that will also be fired up for other reasons. Aspect a humdinger that can go either way, but in the end the Sharks will win it by 6 points.:)<O:p</O:p

I actually enjoy watching the Lions and Cheetahs play this year. The results are poor but they are giving it a shot.

We can sure as hell place our bets, because one or two big teams might just suffer defeats at the hands of these two teams.;)
