Wonder if there'll be a trade off with a couple of Leinster players moving west. Players like Jack Conan, Dominic Ryan, Michael Bent and Noel Reid would benefit Connacht and more regular game time for them would also help Ireland.

Very happy with this signing.

Maybe but Connacht are at stage now they should be aiming higher. I think they'll take our European spot and their recruitment will be key. Conan would be big player for them but rest would be simply squad guys

The Kids go out and get the four tries in Zebre, promising performance and McGrath is now the second best 9 in the country. Ringrose hurt himself unfortunately, couldn't tell how badly.

Hi lads, I'm looking a picture of any player wearing this polo shirt:

Can you help me?

Thoughts on the appointment of Stuart Lancaster as defence coach?

It's a good addition to the coaching team. He has plenty of international experience. He's well regarded in youth development. Since leaving his role with England he hasn't been afraid to try new experiences as a coach linking up with the Stormers, Counties Manukau, the Atlanta Falcons NFL team and in helping get PRO Rugby off the ground. While nominally a defence coach in the Leinster setup, I'd be shocked if he didn't have a much broader role in helping Leo Cullen along.

On a side note, the IRFU have put together a very strong group of coaches for the provinces and national team. Joe Schmidt, Andy Farrell, Pat Lam, Dave Ellis, Les Kiss, Rassie Erasmus, Jacques Nienaber and Stuart Lancaster is a quality brains trust. Hopefully indigenous coaches and players can sponge a lot of information from them.

Much needed experience in that coaching team. Think he'll turn out nicely for them if not given the head role.

The question is how good a technical coach Lancaster is. He's certainly got a lot of positive things to bring to Leinster and his record should say he can do it but it feels like there's a long time since he's really been involved in it.

Incidentally, while Lancaster doesn't have Ford's reputation for being a difficult sod, I still think Cullen might feel slightly uneasy. Lancaster probably won't press it but he's still a ready-made replacement waiting.

I'm watching closely for the transformation of Leinster into a crowd of dirty cynical jersey grabbing bstarts around the ruck into a bunch of all round bloody good blokes.

Sexton reported to be taking some time out to recover from injury. Himself, Marsh and Carbery are our 10's in the European squad. Reid or Isa covering 10 in case Carbery, god forbid, gets hurt?!

Didn't Leinster dispute this though.
Honestly hope he does sacrifice 2 months as its clear he's nowhere near his max

Aye, just read that the Swirve said if he's fit he will play, bloody right too. Give him the US and Canada tour off if he needs a rest, not two vital European games!

Thing is he wants to go on Lions he's at stage there is really no decent rest time between now and mid July.
If Leinster are confident now is arguably the best time as he'd be fresh in Europe come April. Being honest I'd expect them to do double over Northampton.

Great to see so many young players emerge this season. Adam Byrne and Rory O'Loughlin have made sure Dave Kearney and Fergus McFadden haven't been badly missed. Joey Carbery is an able deputy for Johnny Sexton and looks set to be the starting 10 for the bulk of the next decade. Ross Byrne has had a decent start to his Leinster career. As his confidence grows he'll be a real asset to the squad. Dan Leavy has started delivering on his huge potential and is putting pressure on the established back row options. Garry Ringrose, Robbie Henshaw, Luke McGrath, Tadhg Furlong, Josh van der Flier and Jack Conan are all 24 or under and have made big strides this season too.

Should they keep this coaching team together, with a bit more quality in the second row and depth in midfield, Leinster won't be far off the level they reached from 2008-2012 before long.

Key is coaching ticket. Cullens deal also up this year. But ceryainly the foundations are laid. Key also will be keeping guys fit.

Potential returns for Carbery, D Kearney, McFadden and Ross this week... Just four internationals who wouldn't start if the squad was at full fitness! Mad Ted!
