That really is some team with Dardis, Brewer and Timoney probably being the best prospects though I've also heard a lot of good things about Moloney. Even the bench is really good. Andy Roche is a ridiculously big hooker who should start on this years Terenure "Dream Team", Tim Schmidt is really talented player with a good rugby brain, Andy Marks is a great utility back to have while Hugh O'Donnell and Eric O'Sullivan are both huge props with good skillsets.

I cannot get over Ollie Jaeger being there as a prop. He's played a lot of rugby at 6 but played prop last year. I'm nothing special but I really did a job on him last year early in the season. He must have done a lot of work on his scrummaging since then.

What are the best of the Leinster backline coming out of Leinster's underage teams? It seems that Leinster could be suffering around the centre and the wing in a couple of years, and it would be great for them to have more talent coming from those positions.

Given Ulster's recent work in age grade, possibly not a result to get carried away by, but then this team had won all its warm-ups including a fairly brutal destruction of Lancashire... time will tell.

Big ginger 8 could probably answer this better than I could but looking at schools prospects, Billy Dardis stands out at fullback and can also play flyhalf. Harrison Brewer is a beast at centre or number 8. St Michaels have had a few really classy 10s of late (Andy Cummiskey, Noel Reid, Cathal Marsh, Bobby Holland) so Ross Byrne must have something about him. On the u19s Cian Kelleher, Stephen O'Neill and Conor McKeon are talented. Eoghan Quinn is a speedster who scored a bucket of tries for his school, province and Ireland u19s last season. Ruairi O'Farrell was in 4th year last year and made the Ireland u18s as a scrumhalf. Any idea why he's not in this squad bg8?

Think you pretty much got it covered in the backs. I mean there is some rally classy players such as Dan's brother Adam Leavy missing out. I'm not sure why O'Farrell was omitted I'm not aware of any injury. The two lads ahead of him are great prospects (apparently the first thing Schmidt did was get the ball of a lineout on his own 10 and run in a try) but being selected by Ireland would suggest he's rated higher. I'm also not sure about his age because he did 4th year with Clongowes before moving to 'rock who decided to let him do 4th year again to keep him with their best players.

Good stuff lads, thanks. Not too familiar with any of these players but will keep an eye out for them.

Thanks for that. I think Schmidt can play 15 too.

The sub second row Ryan - isn't he the giant captain of Michael's JCT last year?

Yeah think you're right about Ryan.

Roopnarinesingh is some name.

Glad to see Jerry Sexton playing.

Shows how highly rated Byrne is that he's already captain of the u20's.

At least you know Olding, Farrell, Scholes and Alexander played.

Bit of midweek news that was missed on here I think. Dom Ryan is out for 12 weeks, Boss for 8.

The loss of Ryan is significant. Firstly, this was a major chance for him to put down a marker with a few guys away. Secondly, with Ruddock and O'Brien already out, we've lost a lot of talent in the back row.

Are any/many of Ryan's injuries the same thing or same muscle group reoccurring?

I suppose what I am really asking is - does he have a future in professional rugby or is he just too injury prone?

The Leinster Schools (Under-18) team, sponsored by Newstalk, were made to work very hard for their second win of the Interprovincial Series, but were 34-12 victors over Munster in Thomond Park on Wednesday afternoon...

Munster came into this one on the back of a hard-earned 23-15 win over Connacht Schools. They were forced into making one change, Stephen McCarthy coming in for the injured Liam McMahon at tight-head prop. They started well, their fly-half Gearoid Lyons striking a fourth minute penalty for what would turn out to be their only lead of the game. Leinster were able to lineout with the same fifteen that over-ran Ulster 68-5 at Donnybrook last week but they found the going very tough in the first half-hour as Munster closed down their space, hit them hard in the tackle and turned the match into a dogfight.
It took 22 minutes for lock Rory Moloney to burrow over beside the posts from a series of rucks. Fly-half Ross Byrne converted.
Leinster just struggled to find their rhythm in the way they blew Ulster apart the previous week. Last year's Ireland Under-18 out-half Lyons gave his forwards every encouragement by hitting a 26th minute penalty to narrow the gap to the minimum.
Then, Leinster responded with a Byrne three-pointer and an impressive try by right wing Cormac Brennan. It was triggered by a counter attack by full-back Billy Dardis from inside his own 22 metre line, carrying the ball with real intent before putting Brennan away to fend off the last defender. Byrne converted for a 17-6 lead at the break.
It looked like the vital breakthrough Leinster had been working towards. But, Lyons was back on target again three minutes into the new half as Munster made their commitment tell at close quarters.
Byrne steadied the ship with his second penalty shortly after only for Lyons to strike his fourth to make it 20-12 to the visitors in the 50th minute.
As the players began to tire, the gaps opened up in defence. Leinster pounced from another counter-attack. A series of quick rucks depleted the Munster defence for centre Fergal Cleary to dot down in the 53rd minute. The immaculate Byrne added the extras.
The game was in the bag. Full-back Dardis was, once again, the architect of their fourth try from a scrum on the right hand side of the pitch. He made the initial incision and threw a long pass out for left wing James McCormack to finish for Byrne to convert in the 57th minute for a personal tally of 14 points.
Team Manager Eddie Geraghty said: "We are pleased to have won the game. But, we need to work on our game for next week against Connacht. We have to cut down on the error count. We made too many mistakes today.
"It was a privilege to play at Thomond Park. Munster were very, very committed. They had a very good game plan. They shut down our space and made it very difficult for us. Every try we got, we had to work hard for it. We got nothing easy and that was credit to them".
Leinster will win the Interprovincial Series if they beat Connacht – they were beaten 23-0 by Ulster at The Sportsground - at home in Donnybrook next Wednesday (KO: 2.30pm).
