Best major in years but feel sick today. Rory either bounces back from that one fast or never gets over it, worse choke than the Masters in 2011.

The Open this weak. My favourite and the most random of them all. I think if Rory can get himself in contention he'll win this week , was very solid in Scotland and his form is outstanding.

Generally impossible to predict though, luck of the draw, good bounces and shorter hitters all come into the equation in a big way. Just need a European to get the job done and end the drought.

Lads just trying to make the cut here for the most part. Rose's run is truly remarkable on the bad side of the draw, Rahm might fancy a charge too.

Shane will be very happy where he is and likely welcome rotten conditions expected tomorrow where his shot making and experience will give him an edge.

I don't think the winner will buck the trend in the thread below this year. None of the other top class ball strikers are simmering at the moment and apart from his heater last year Bryson has a rough record around Augusta.



I think you can discount Canter and Fleetwood too, their putting is bad. Niemann a hard sell having never contended a major before but he's got the tools.

Lowry and Mcilroy, I won't touch, will already want them to win regardless.

Rahm hasn't contended a real tournament in awhile, I don't like him.

Leaves Scheffler whose putting woes have returned and Morikawa who has everything but a win in the past 18 months.

My head and heart say Rory but history pushes me to Morikawa.

I think Rory wins a major this year but I don't think he'll break his drought in Georgia.

This is my favourite sporting week of the year.
