The English Rugby Stadium/Attendance thread

Even though I am a Wasps fan (man and boy). Even I considered changing teams after this announcement. Mainly due to the lack of consultation with fans and players.
I considered who my new fanaticism should be aimed at:

Quins? No my wife supports them, and I am not a fan of stripey blazers and wine.

Saracens? Just no

London Irish? Being Reading Irish, what's the point!

London Welsh? Again as Oxford Welsh, what's the point, and they will more than likely disappear.

So I knew my choice would always be Bath, as I supported them with my Mum when I was very young. But if I am willing to support a club that is further away, then there is no point changing.

So after my brief internal counselling session, I am still a Wasp, always will be, even if I do have to to Coventry. Loyalty is the make up of a fan, thick and thin.

Oh! this is like reading my thoughts, made me feel more than a little strange Mumbles

Whilst I might not be the most regular of visitors to Adams Park, Travelling from SE London\Kent to High Wycombe on the train is never fun particularly at the weekend, I am devastated by the move to Coventry.

As you, I have remained a Wasp but, my regular live rugby is now reverting to my local side Bromley RFC.

New screens up at Twickers - allows for a few hundred more seats where the old ones were apparently.
They've also added LED floodlighting, which allows for high-FPS slow-mo shots without flicker, and a generally more uniform light.
It also means they can do light shows with the floodlights, because there is no "warm-up" time anymore.

...Now for a re-clad to make the place look a little bit less... military-industrial. :D

Looks nice. Know what you mean about the re clad...

White looks terrible IMO - empty seats are very noticeable, as are unclean and stained ones!
White plastic looks inherently grim, you ever used white plastic patio furniture?

If money and H&S wasn't an issue, I'd like to see them lower the pitch down about 5 metres, and fill the unused pitch-side runoff with seats, I hate stadiums with large gaps between the field and the seats.

There's also rumours flying around Welford Road that the clubhouse end is to be redeveloped very soon. Can anyone confirm this?

The plans to renovate the entire stadium are still live AFAIK.

I do remember hearing that a sponsor had stepped up to pay for the clubhouse end to be done, which I think will be done at the end of this season, ready for next.
New capacity will be 26k~... can't remember who the sponsor was.

Apparently it will be signed off this week.

Increased to 3,000 seats and also corp. boxes. Apparently works start after the Northampton game.

Wasps: Ricoh Arena move 'absolutely the right decision'

From BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/30577264

Wasps chief executive Nick Eastwood insists their move to Coventry has been vindicated after 28,254 fans saw their first league game at the Ricoh Arena.
The crowd was more than four times higher than their final game at their former Adams Park home.

Apart from previous matches held at Wembley and Twickenham, no game in the two decades of Premiership rugby has been watched by more people.
"All in all, we couldn't really have asked for anything more. I'm a bit hoarse after all the screaming and shouting. It was a great day and everything went off really well," Eastwood continued.
"Of the match-day ticket purchases, over 90% had never been to a Wasps match before or not in the last five years, and 60% of those live within 10 miles of the Ricoh, so they're very much local people."

He must've been the only one screaming and shouting, it all seemed a bit dead/flat on the TV.

Like I said in the other thread: Fair play that's a very impressive crowd, but lets wait and see what they level out at
