Thing is both touch judges are refs in their own right who have been in charge of a test and are in line with the play. I don't see much difference between being on the side or in the middle.

So, clear and obvious is even more of a goal for ARs than it is for referees.

First of all, ARs first responsibility is touch.
Second is foul play.
Third is things that you are asked by the ref to take care of. They should only be calling in forward passes if they are asked if that particular pass was forward.

Seat belt tackle, they call it all the time in club rugby up here.
