Team of the Tournament

Trying not to sit on the fence with choices like Phillips/Reddan/Blair/Wigglesworth/Peel/anyother or Jones/Parrise. One player must get the nod.

1 Sheridan,

2 Szarzewski

3 Castrogiovanni

4 Hines, despite his temperament he had a strong tournament.

5 Gough

6 Dussotoir (probably spelt wrong, but he looked good imo)

7 Martyn Williams

8 Sergio Parisse, one player only. jones was good but there's only 1 no8 position

9 Mike Blair, pack was going backwards, and he still continues to perform at least as well as his welsh counterparts.

10 James Hook, more talented than Jones imo and his control of the game is improving. At present the choice between Hook, O'Gara and jones would depend on a game plan and the opposition played.

11 Shane Williams, tough one this but Williams might just sneak in the team ;)

12 Gavin Henson, showed a good all round game, but no fireworks at the moment.

13 Tom Shanklin,

14 Vincent Clerc

15 Lee Bryne, I think Heymans is a more destructive player, but Byrne had a great tournament

That's the BBC's team of the tournament. I mostly agree with it, but don't read the comments unless you want to stab people for thinking Wilko/Noon is a better center partnership than Henson/Shanklin.

15. Lee Byrne
14. Vincent Clerc
13. Tom Shanklin
12. Gavin Henson
11. Shane Williams
10. James Hook
9. Mike Blair
8. Sergio Parrise
7. Martyn Williams
6. Ryan Jones
5. Alun Wyn Jones
4. Ian Gough
3. Martin Castrogiovani
2. Dmitri Szarzewski
1. Andrew Sheridan

The team picks itself mostly, there were about 20 bright lights in a sea of inconsistency over the whole tournament.

BBC board users are such knobs!!!

Wilkinson/Noon could be a devastating centre partnership if they got to play against Ma'a Nonu every weekend.
