Sweeney off to Japan

Waikato and Chiefs utility back Dwayne Sweeney is leaving New Zealand at the end of the season to play in Japan.

Hes a bit of a loss really. Handy player. I also think its a bit of a waste leaving the public eye in Japan, he looks like the kind of maligned NZ player that would do quite well in the NH

Too true, a handy player who can play in multiple positions> He is a great link player but nothing overly spectacular, though solid enough.

He's an ok player to cover wing & Fullback but I dont think he's a great option to cover midfield and I dont think he's good enough to be a regular starter at super level for the chiefs. I think it's a real shame we have seen him at 12 and not Jackson Willson as cover for Tana. Or Move kahui to 12 and Play Save Tokula at 13 and keep sweeny on the bench as an impact player. He's always been better coming of the bench than as a starter.

Good luck to him. I know he's a great character in the waikato, well liked local lad.
