Super Rugby: Round 13 Melbourne Rebels vs Hurricanes

Oh look, another week of players grabbing the line out jumper and being penalised... Stupid stupid players.

Though the Rebels didn't get pinged for it a few times, so the ref wasn't very consistent either.

Stupid players are stupid.

A few other thoughts:
- Broadhurst impressed again. His offloading ability could be quite appealing to the AB's selectors.
- I felt the loosies were pretty quiet. They were accurate, but not as dynamic as they have been in the past
- Barrett is good. Very good.
- Leiua was a bit quieter again this week (thanks to some very solid midfield defense by Inman and Ellison)
- It's a pity Taylor is leaving after rediscovering his form. He is electric on the counter-attack at the moment
- It was great to see Julian Savea making some tackles this week. He's been missing quite a few tackles in recent weeks, but he looked far more focused on defense this week. He apparently topped the tackle count for the Canes with 10 tackles (the same number as his brother) - a couple were crucial 1-on-1 tackles that he had been missing in previous weeks.

unfortunate result but still good to see live rugby. 12000 odd people agree which I still think is great for a city where rugby is not popular. good to see come support for the canes too and lucky the rain held off until I got home too :)

- woodward struggled early and with place kicking but that chip and chase try was class. hegarty had great vision to see the hurricanes player come out of the line and to give that flat ball to woodward.
- the rebels kicked a lot less than last week which was great
- rebels defence was excellent considering the canes are one of the most attacking teams
- barrett was awesome, that cross field kick to jane just topped his night. i was gutted as it put the score out too far for us but on the other hand they deserved it after pulling of such a skillful play.
- Savea made some big tackles, you know the ones where the crowd goes "ooooooooohhhhh"
- the ref was dissapointing, all those penalties were just strange, there was even a few occasions where the ball was available for the scrum half and he blew an unplayable ruck. i feel that this affected both side equally but canes fans would feel stiff that conrad ended up with the card after all the rebels penalties up the other end.

anyway roll on next week, Rebels get to play the Reds and hopefully come away with a win considering their injuries and current form.

That sounds pretty good for a city like Melbourne where footy is a kind of religion

C'mon Union!!!!!

when is para gonna pass the ball into barrett's arms instead of him having to jump for the ball... or does barrett prefer those high balls???
:?
i want to see barrett get decent ball for once!!

Yeah, I guess the emphasis is on speed/a high tempo game ... when that happens, sometimes the accuracy drops. Perhaps well get to see some of that in the test matches if Barrett gets paired with Aaron Smith at some stage
