Super Rugby: Kings vs. Sharks in Port Elizabeth (09/03/2013)

I would call the Stormers' defense resilient rather than dogged. That makes a big difference :p

Not necessarily; you don't need a brilliant defense to keep the Stormers away from your tryline. We manage that well enough by ourselves.

In saying that I wouldn't argue that the Sharks and Bulls' defense didn't seem up to it.. or at the very least up to it ITO what we could bring.

Looking at the two sides I find it hard to see how the Kings will get close. I'm picking the Sharks by 20, though it is hard to know what to expect from the Kings....

Going to miss this one. Hoping for a good result and performance (while I watch Ireland v France).

2 former franchise partners facing off, and the Sharks have had all the ball so far. Try by Ludik referred to the TMO for a forward pass...

And it is judged to be forward. The right call there IMO. Scrum for the Kings but they have not had the ball yet. First possession coming up for them.

WOW!!! A 5 m. scrum for the Kings and the Sharks destroy them. 2nd. shot at goal for Lambie, chance to make it 0-6.

It's over! 0-6 after 13 minutes.

By the way, Jason Jaftha should not be anywhere near a rugby field holding a whistle. This guy is a joke.

Half-time score is 3-12. Only penalties but the Kings were very close to conceding a penalty try and are only 1 or 2 infringements away from a yellow card.

We are doing nothing in attack except giving it to the forwards and trying to barge over.

To be fair, when the backs get it, they either bash (Steyn) or pass forward (Jordaan). Ludik scored 2 tries but both were not given (correct call in both cases though)

Not even going to comment on this **** match. It's a disgrace. Ridiculous.

Awful calls from Steyn.
Shambolic.

At least the Stormers scored a few tries, maybe not four, but still.

Steyn has been playing in Europe for too long. Bad calls and we are only 1 try away from losing this one.

They wouldn't even be that stupid in Europe.
We play to contact, not space.
It's a complete reversal of last year.

And the Sharks again failing to score any tries...

We scored 5 tries... 3 were held up, 1 was disallowed for a forward pass and 1 for offside at the ruck ;)

Oh, and Jaftha, who is a joke as a referee, refused to give a penalty try after the Kings conceded 5(!) penalties in a row on their own try line. Usually that would be enough for a penalty try.

2 games in a row that Jaftha was terrible in. He's the South African version of George Ayoub!!!

He's a joke, I just cannot believe he is a Super Rugby referee. He is not suited for this level.

Tell you what, I'd go for Whitehead over Steyn when fit. Poor calls from the captain and little contribution otherwise.
I think we missed our Alberts/Deysel disruptor.
