Super Rugby: Chiefs vs. Blues in Mount Maunganui (30/03/2013)

Can't watch the game atm cause I've been banned from watching any more rugby in the flat after the Canes game, however I agree on the TMO.

For me it seems referees just aren't asked to take any responsibility for making decisions. Even in instances where it's a clear try, refs just don't back themselves.

And if a player makes a 80m run down the field, and the referee missed the pass on the 80th minute, that in my opinion is the refs problem not the players. It's just getting really annoying.

Get new flatmates ;) That really sums up my thoughts on the matter too.

Masaga looks fantastic when he manages to catch the ball.

TMO decision pending here for a Tikoirotimu try. No try - just out. I'm sure that Halai won't be happy that Tikoirotimu just ran straight over top of him!

They bring in the big artillery :). Chiefs really need to support their runners more.

Weepu kicking the ball against Williams and a chance for the Chiefs to extend the lead.

Good first half, lots of missed opportunities and handling errors. Second half should be a cracker.

HT: 9-6 Chiefs. The game is certainly more expansive than that scoreline suggests.

Luatua, Noakes, and Ranger have impressed for the Blues, while Cruden and Kahui been the pick of the Chiefs for me (Masaga has been great with ball in hand, but has knocked on 3 times). I feel the Chiefs need to get Sam Cane on early in the second half, as they are really missing his physicality around the breakdown.

I'm more than happy with the TMO decisions. It's frustrating for the Chiefs, of course, but it's the right decision. Also, I'd be more angry as a Blues supporter if my team conceded a try due to the Chiefs infringing.

Try to big Ben Tameifuna.

Noakes really struggling on defense...

The Chiefs are finding a lot of space behind Frank Halai...

EDIT: Cruden looking back to his best.

Cane on now. Halai off injured after running into Tikoirotumu's boot in mid-air (and gets penalized for it too..).

Been a bit of a clinic from the chiefs in this game. Locking down the blues in there own half for pretty much the whole game makes it very difficult for any of there backs to get going.

Kahui is just class he should be starting 13 for AB's this year but no he's decided to take the cash, bit of a shame that. Probably would only last a couple of games without injury anyway i guess.

Chiefs have just been by far the best team tatically getting around in this competition they have so many ways to beat teams.

Will be intresting when they play the brumbies as i think they are one of the few teams that might be clued up to them.

Luatua continues to impress. Gibson-Park looks out of his depth - picking up the ball and doing 3-4 sidesteps directly behind the ruck is not the best plan at Super Rugby level....

EDIT: Try Moala. Good patience there by the Blues. Amscombe was not keen to tackle Moala! Try setup by a good double around by Gibson-Park :)

True, it's a pity that he leaves as well. But if he gets another shoulder injury his career might be over and now he can still enjoy his rugby for some time and invest in his future. I think he might come back and join the coaching staff ;)

Full time 23-16 Chiefs. Chiefs pushing there luck a bit at the end there going for a drop-goal - they were lucky that didn't cost them!
