Super 15: Stormers vs Hurricanes. Newlands Stadium (25/2/2012, 15:05 GMT)

Barrett really impressed me this weekend vs the Stormers, but I wonder how he'll go when there's a top quality flyhalf in the other team? Gary van Aswegen is hardly top opposition, and this was his first competitive match in a very long while, after his injury...

Barret has the skills, we saw that, but the big question is whether he can handle pressure...

The Stormers were their own enemy in this game and are lucky to come away with the points in this game, at some stage they were even, with the Canes in full force.

You mean he wasn't under pressure stuck behind that Canes pack? (not to mention Eaton at halfback....)

Barrett's strength has always been his composure and ability to handle pressure, rather than any outrageous skills. Obviously this composure will be tested throughout the season, but he certainly hasn't looked out of place at Super Rugby level thus far.

in that match vs the Stormers, he, as a player wasn't put ander pressure by the Stormers... The Stormers' focus was more on the Canes forwards, and trying to dominate them, but van Aswegen didn't put any pressure on Barrett at all, and whenever Barrett got some good ball, he got his backs away...

That's actually what I was trying to say

Fair enough - I see what you mean. I think he does have the temperament to deal with this sort of pressure, but only time will tell.

Loose forwards apply the pressure on the 10's, not the opposing flyhalf.
Barret looked good to me, quite impressed
