the current generation of consoles can't support split screen without a serious dip in the quality of each window, because the console is essentially rendering the graphics/physics engine twice. if you've played call of duty: world at war you would've noticed how big a difference there is between the single player and offline co-op campaign (a lot of detail is left out to get it playing at a workable standard). still.. the option should be there.
