My thoughts;
1. Sarries - Done well, but getting worse and luckier as the weeks go by - Andy Farrell clearly knows nothing about rugby considering the bile he was talking about expansive rugby this week. It'll go wrong soon, once they start playing teams in form.
2. Irish - If they cut out the silly mistakes they'd be unbeatable. They'll improve as the season goes on.
3. Wasps - Leeds was a blip on the radar. They're looking mighty fine this season (which makes a pleasant change compared to their usual last minute dash for the play-offs).
4. Tiggers - 6 Fit players and still in the top 4. Worrying when they get a squad again later this year.
5. Saints - An Enigma. Capable of playing great rugby & smashing anyone, but maybe not mentally tough enough to do so. Perennial under-performers as displayed especially against Sale.
6. Newcastle - Bottom 3 if other teams weren't so bad. A decent effort considering all their changes, but things will get worse as the season ends.
7. Sale - It'll be a long time until their a major threat again.
8. Quins - Looking better as the weeks go on. Coming out the other side of the Summer fiascos, could maybe be there (or there abouts) in May for HEC qualification.
9. Wuss - Look completely clueless. An ageing & under-talented squad matched up with a coach who's taking a long time to do not much. 10thi finish if they're lucky.
10. Gloucester - A club and a squad far too good for the dog-end f the table. They'll turn a corner soon enough.
11. Bath - Getting everything they deserve IMO. No doubt in my mind if they finish bottom the RFU will fiddle something and save them from relegation.
12. Leeds - Improving vastly. No big names in the squad, but standing with a great chance of surviving the drop if they can stay injury free and Bath continue their free-fall.

Sounds about right, except maybe for Sarries. This winning run won't continue, but seven wins in a row is an excellent start; they'll be somewhere in the top 4 come the end of the year.

Can I just add that for the first time ever I kinda agree with Gatland. This is the weakest GP I've seen, probably ever.

I always felt they had great strength in depth over the ML but not any more. Even their top teams look a little toothless.

Not saying English rugby is shite or anything, but there seem to be more average players occupying key positions then there was before.

Gatland was talking out of his arse, throwing his toys away because he's not allowed Peel for the 4th test. He's been a long time advocate of totalitarian control of his taffs. If he can get under the skin of the Premiership teams (where he was neither popular nor successful) while using the media to make the principality a more attractive locale for his players then any other league (specifically, the biggest drawing one outside of France), he will.

Only those who don't watch the league agree with him. Or the "Magnerzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz is da best" brigade.

Bath won't get anywhere near relegation, once we have Watson, Barkley and James back we will start winning - still targeting top 6

Gatland was doing the same as he did before the 6N decider... playing mind games. It was such an easy time to do it, at a time when Wales don't have to play England for months and the next round of HC games is ages away. Oh, there's the <strike>Pointless & Only Exists To Make Money</strike> Anglo-Welsh Cup soon but no one cares. Just getting all cwoss about his pwecious pwayers and going to the first port of call for blame if you're in Wales: the English.

I'd make an argument for both the GP AND the Magners being of a poor quality so far this season. Of the big teams in either league, name one performing well... can't? Neither can anyone else.

I'm not knocking the GP for a laugh, or saying the ML or Top14 is better. I'm just pointing out how it looks from over here. Bath, Sale, Gloucester and Quins are all shadows of the teams they were last year.

It'll be Leicester, Wasps, Irish and probably Sarries again this year. Saints are moving in the right direction but the rest seem to be dropping away.

As for the biggest drawing league? They dont have the money anymore. GP teams can barely match the big ML teams, they are nowhere near the French.

I'm not trying to knock the GP, I'm just saying its something I've noticed when watching it this year. Some good young players coming through so the future for England is better, but at the moment there seem to be a lot of average players (a lot more than before).

Lol I cant believe you actually went to find that rather then just agreeing with me.

Have been watching the HEC and so picked up the Sky subscription again. Im not glued to the GP, but I'm watching a bit of it.

Stuart Barnes of all people agreed with Gatland and said the GP is a lot lower standard than it was 2 or 4 years ago. Why would GP bashing be on his agenda? It looks like that's how he actually sees it.

And when has Barnes ever said the GP is poor?

Luke Watson won't turn a season. Decent player and should like the NH conditions but still not a gamebreaker. He scored the most tries in the Currie cup this seaon (11) but 90% (literally) came from the back of a maul where he just hung out. Don't look for him to repeat the feat unless Bath can control a maul like Province. Decent fetcher, though.

Link or it never happened?
Were not saying the GP is shite, just that its weaker then it has been before. Its not even a controversial statement really. Everyone knows it.
