The Super Rugby matches will, from now on, be broadcast on Sky Sports UK! This is good news for all those in the UK and probably because of the Crusaders vs. Sharks match last month which was played at Twickenham.

I noticed on superxv.com they added a new page with broadcast times on Sky Sports UK:

Sorry to disappoint, but games were already being screened and have been for some time.

Haha, okay. I only read about it today and since I live in Holland, I don't have Sky Sports (which is a shame)

Don't have Sky Sports? Www cardinal sin or does Holland not do Sky Sports? Do you have something else there?

I have nothing here! Only BBC 1, 2, 3 and 4 who only broadcast the Test matches (excluding the English Test matches in June and November). I rely on streams to watch my team. Can't wait to return to South Africa next year where I can actually watch the Sharks on TV

So you weren't aware that Mr. Super Rugby, aka All hype and over-rated, aka Murdochvision didn't own Sky?

Does Sanzar get any extra money from this or is it all part of their recently signed extension with News Ltd?

New Zealand rugby will have improved financial muscle to retain players as the finishing touches are put to what is thought to be one of the biggest rugby broadcast deals in the world.

The old Sanzar broadcasting agreement with Rupert Murdoch's News Ltd organisations was worth US$340 million ($480 million) over five years.

The new deal, which runs from 2011 for another five years, is thought to be worth a total of US$400 million ($560 million) - an increase of about 20 per cent.

The Herald on Sunday has learned that New Zealand and Australia will split around US$200 million between them when the Super 14 becomes Super 15 in 2011.

What I don't understand is how the AFL is able to generate AUS$1b over five years. That's almost double what three countries (Sanzar) can achieve for the same period, for a global market. And this is supposedly one of the biggest rugby broadcast deals in the world? How can the France and UK deals not dwarf that of a code that is played in a country of 20 million? Something doesn't add up.
