Ireland internationals Sean O'Brien, Shane Jennings and Devin Toner are among five players to agree new contracts with Leinster.

Back row players O'Brien and Jennings have signed three-year contract extensions while lock Toner has agreed a new two-year deal.

Emerging utility back Fergus McFadden and former Ireland Under-20 prop Jack McGrath have signed new two-year deals.

Leinster coach Joe Schmidt said he was "delighted" at the contract extensions.

"That both Shane and Sean have, at separate intervals, led the team in Leo Cullen's absence this season speaks volumes about the leadership roles that both assume within our panel," said the Leinster coach.

Has Dominic Ryan been given a full contract yet? Last time I checked he was still technically a part of the academy

Top work on retaining the lot of them,
Some potentially world-class players there

Ryan is still in the academy. Re-signing him, Mike Ross, Nathan Hines, Jamie Heaslip and Jonny Sexton should be next on the agenda. There have been rumours that Sexton's IRFU contract is due to be announced in the coming days.

Sexton has an Irish contract I know that is 100% true it's all agreed.

As for renewals it is great news for Leinster and well dare I say it in space of a year O'Brien has went from prospect to argubally the best backrow in Europe at the moment.

Snoop I have heard too though that Hines is being released as IRFU don't think he is value seeing as Leinster have decent irish options and well IRFU lack Money

I'd be annoyed at losing Hines because he's got terrific hands and is a tough ******* in tight play but I understand the IFRUs logic. Hines is 34 and NIQ while Devin Toner is 25 and an Ireland international who needs gametime. Maybe Leinster would poach Ian Nagle to replace Hines- Nagle might want to play for a successful team!

Nagle close to signing 3 year deal here on full contract and is on high after been pulled in to European squad. So think he's fine here :)
Agree with Hines comments though and well I think he is a vital cog in the pack because he also is a powerful force at scrumtime and well physical around park.

Back to talking about the re-signings, this may sound stupid but O'Brien's 3 year deal has added benefits. Leinster are often pigeon holed unfairly as a team supported solely by middle class folk from Dublin 4. O'Brien is a mucker from Carlow, has superstar potential and can become one of the faces of the team. In many ways having a star of the team who hasn't come via the traditional schools rugby route will help broaden the appeal of the team.

Ah Leinster have plenty of muck savages; Gordon D'Arcy is a wexford man, I think Heaslip is from outside Dublin, Horgan is from Meath... Sure BOD and Healy are northsiders. Keep that BOD thing on the hush though... He wouldn't want that spreading around

In fairness though I've seen alot of work put in to Carlow Wicklow and even now Offaly so surely that a good sign

5 top signings and its great young players see a bright future at Leinster. Hopefully Heaslip and Sexton will join them.
