Scotland - South Africa

@ Moderators: Is it an idea for people to include a source when they post news? The message of Christo Naude sounds too good to be true but I cannot find a reference anywhere

The South African back room staff are all trying to get Pieter de Villiers out! With some clear examples and motives as ill explain now.

Gary Gold(forwards) Dick Muir(backs) Percy Montgomery(Kicking) and Craig Roberts(medic). These are the guys that i say are stabbing PDV in the back. All except Craig Roberts think they should be head coach.

Lets start of with Gary Gold, few people know this but hes also the defense coach of the Boks. There defense pattern is crap leaving clear gaps at the edges, and its not as if he doesn't know what to do(having helped Jake at the world cup). Clearly hes helping us lose to get the top job.

Dick Muir
Selecting Zane at outside center what! And clearly not getting anything right at the back. Cant remember a good looking Bok back line this year. Did he have the same problem at the Sharks when he was coach there NO! Clearly wanting the boks to loose to get the top job

Percy Montgomery
He played over 5 years in Wales. Got all the experience that you'll ever need for wales conditions, So then how could he not have alerted the bok back line that there studs are too short for the conditions. Don't tell me he didn't think of that. I can't believe a senior guy like that can miss it. He clearly wants to become Boks back line coach and will not help till he gets it.

Craig Roberts
How can you as team doctor allow your players to take baned substances that you prescribed. You are supposed to do your home work and make sure that it never happens that your players take a baned substance by mistake. Thats why you are team doctor!!!!!!!! If i was PDV i would have sent him home (Craig Roberts) till i finished my investigation. Its a woeful mistake and is unforgivable.

Clearly all of them have got the knife in for Pieter de Villiers. And they all should be replaced with International coaches that know they wont become Springbok coach and have no aspirations to become the head coach.:%#%#:
Wow, that really is paranoid.

With that logic, the Wallabies kicking coach really wants to get Deans' fired, along with their forwards coach for the Wallabie scrum. Ireland's forwards coach must also want Dec fired. England's backs coach recently wanted Johnson fired, but had a change of heart recently while Scotland's Andy Robinson wanted to get himself fired on Saturday. Total and utter rubbish. South Afirca luckily won a game that they probably didn't deserve, and it can fall just as much on the players as the coaches.

I can see where you're coming from with Craig Roberts. The Montgomery thing though, the Boks will have been wearing the exact same boots as the Welsh (probably delivered in the same van when they arrived in Cardiff),
The other two are just coincedences/poor efforts by the staff in mention,
I don't think anyone is trying to get PdV kicked out (though maybe they should :p ) it's all just conicedence

Call me paranoid but explain to me how that happens.
Ok.

Because the onus is now on attacking, positive rugby, there are more and different places to exploit than in 2007. In 2007, South Africa flourished in a much more closed defensive game, and it's the fact that the coaches have not adapted to a change in game plan since 2009, that South Africa are not performing as well as the used to.

One is Super Rugby, One is International Rugby. There is a difference. How did the Sharks go this year incidently? poorly? Oh.

No, he's selecting him at outside center, because he's a useless coach. His team didn't win a single game this Super 14, and he's the back coach?! Did he want to fire himself with the Lions? No. Christian Cullen, Leon McDonald, Mils Muliaina have all played at center during a World Cup. It's not always a successful transition, but hardly an act of treason, and he's hardly a brilliant fullback either.

Percy Montgomery

You could blame the studs on any coach, if they were even too short, seems like a cop out. Regardless Percy didn't play at Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, he played with Newport, which plays at Rodney Parade. His job is a kicking coach, not a field consultant. If Morne missed 10 kicks at goal, then you may have a point, but he didn't, and you don't.

Craig Roberts

a.) Has it been proven it was a prescribed medicine?
b.) What would the team doctor get out of PdV losing his job?
c.) Why would he potentially risk his job anyway?

Clearly all of them have got the knife in for Pieter de Villiers. And they all should be replaced with International coaches that know they wont become Springbok coach and have no aspirations to become the head coach.:%#%#:
So PdV should have his coaching staff even less qualified to be head coach than he is? Pretty hard to find to be honest.

I think its great that Mvovo get a chance. It will be in good prep for the WC. Pity though, Habana also needs it. Chances of all these guys losing their jobs if Piet goes is kind of good, so I doubt they would plan this "tragic-Shakespearean-plot" against their income source.

It's not often a team gets strengthened due to injuries, but that seems to be the general theme thoughout PdV's tenure as coach.
Strauss is better than Chiliboy, and I reckon Mvovo has the edge of Habana nowdays. Hell of a player that Xhosa is!
Now Kirchner just needs to stub his big toe and Ludik can get called up...

Anyway liking the look of the team, hopefully Alberts has another crack.

You're an idiot

@ Christo: I was reading in such a high speed tempo because I was so happy when I saw the ***le, I didn't notice it was a story you wrote yourself haha.

Just add a wink next time ;)

@ Steve-O:

Ludik would do great but I would love to see Conrad Jantjes before they call up Ludik. Jantjes is better in my opinion at the moment. Ludik is a lot younger so he still has time.

got tickets, I really hope it's one of those beautiful Edinburgh days so the Springbok backs can get going. It's been raining here a LOT in the last few months, and I really can't be arsed with watching Morne Steyn boot South Africa clear.

It's just been revealed the Habana will miss the rest of the tour with a broken hand. First Chilliboy, now Habana. I'm loving these blessings in disguise...

"Yes, we have no Habanas ... we have no Habanas today"

... Is that what you guys are singing now Jerico :D

He's been a great winger, but he is off form at the moment, so the rest will do him (and the Bok team) good

Even if it isn't raining the Boks still can't play running Rugby, it will be more of the same, endless box kicks. They play more like a Northern Hemisphere team than Scotland does.

This siege mentality Saffas have started to develop is really unhealthy
Next you'll be hearing people are complaining that there are no terror
Attacks in SA, so the US can get all the 'publicity'

Another thing that annoys me is people convienietly (sp.) Forget that
The Sharks won 7 of their last 8 games in the S14

That is true. You never hear anyone about that. The Sharks just had a bad start for whatever reason (not going to explain) and finished the way they normally play. Pretty damn good. Next years Super 15 will be a test case for the young guns but I'm sure they will perform the way they did the last couple of years with a bunch of play off spots in the bag

Ryan Kankowski: Bok number eight ready to get let out of his cage

kankow2531048.jpg

South Africa have warned Scotland a full demonstration of their ability is near after two narrow victories on tour so far.

The world champions defeated Ireland 23-21 and Wales 29-25 and face Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday seeking a victory which would take them three quarters of the way towards a Grand Slam.

Ryan Kankowski, who replaces the rested Pierre Spies in the starting XV after the number eight's man-of-the-match display in Cardiff, believes the Springboks are ready to perform after two under-par displays.

"It's been a long season, but the guys are working hard and hopefully building game after game," said Kankowski.

"We've had periods of each game, 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there, where the guys have really played well, so hopefully we can get a bit more time where we find out feet and the guys start gelling well together."

Victory over Scotland would see England standing in the way of a Home Nations clean sweep.

But Kankowski is putting the Grand Slam to the back of his mind.

"We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves," he said.

"This weekend it's Scotland and hopefully we can play well as a team and we'll see what happens."

Kankowski will be looking to impress as one of four changes to the Springboks' starting XV, with Lwazi Mvovo, Zane Kirchner and Francois Hougaard also coming into the side.

"It's always exciting getting a start for the Springboks and I'm really looking forward to it," he added.

"You've got to use every opportunity, you never know when it's going to be your last.

"Hopefully I can make the best of this one and I can step up and keep stepping up."

It's a pity that Mike Blair never made it through, but a relief that Max Evans injury looked a lot worse than it was.

Rory Lawson is still a quality player though, and hopefully Nikki Walker will be more composed on defence than Rory Lamont was.
Other than that Hines should provide a little more oomf than Vernon did, and won't be bullied in the collisions

2 more Sharks called up!

Springboks call up uncapped McLeod

Charl McLeod: Called up to the Springbok camp

Coach Peter de Villiers on Thursday called up three replacements to the Springbok squad for the final two matches of the team's end-of-year tour against England and the Barbarians at Twickenham.

Experienced wing Odwa Ndungane, hooker Bandise Maku and uncapped scrum-half Charl McLeod will join the squad in London on Sunday. They are replacements for injured wings Bryan Habana and Bjorn Basson and hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle, who has been suspended from all rugby activities (along with Basson) following a positive test for a banned stimulant.

Maku (24) and Ndungane (29) have both made one appearance for the Springboks this season - in June - while McLeod (27) is included in a Springbok squad for the first time.

"I called the players to let them know the good news and they're all really excited to be joining us," said de Villiers.

"I considered calling them in this week but with all the other disruptions I thought it'd be better to focus as much as we could on what is a very important Test against Scotland.

"They can start with us fresh on Monday morning at the beginning of a new Test week."

Ndungane won the last of his seven caps against Wales at the Millennium Stadium in June while Maku made his Test debut as a replacement against Italy at Witbank, also in June.

McLeod has forced his way into the reckoning after a successful Currie Cup season with the Sharks.

"Charl would have been added to the squad earlier but he suffered an ankle injury in the final and would not have been able to travel as an immediate replacement for Ricky Januarie," said De Villiers.

"But we're delighted to be able to give him a chance to show us what he can do at the highest level."

The three inclusions return the Springbok squad to its original compliment of 30.
