Scarlets v Ulster, Friday February 18

I thought the Ulster 10 and 15 were very good
Was the 10 the guy on debut?
He looked a little flustered when under pressure, but handled it well (I remember at one point he had the ball in his own 22, got tackled by two players but still managed an offload to the fullback who got the ball up to halfway)

10 was Paddy Jackson. He's just turned 19 and was making his debut. I thought he made a couple of nice half breaks and attacked the line quite well. His tactical kicking was long but quite inaccurate, ending up in Sean Lamont's arms too often but all in all it was a good debut. You have to cut him some slack because he's going to make mistakes along the way. He and Ulster's coaches can be pleased with his performance. He'll only get better with more exposure. It may be worthwhile giving him another chance next week (and thus giving Ian Humphreys another week to recover) instead of picking him for the Ireland u20s. He's already too good for that level.

Didn't realise he was that young,
Played very well for a flyhalf of his age, especially on his debut

Thought Priestland had a cracking game as well

A win is a win I suppose, I doubted Pienaar's range just before he went for that last kick but he proved me wrong! Good to see wee Jacko having a good game, he has a lot of growing to do but I'm sure iHumph and NOC are taking notice.

I didn't think he could kick that far myself. Poor game but great win. With all the young blood coming through the future is definately bright for Ulster. Gibson, Jackson and the very impressive Nevin Spence. Thought Paddy Wallace was pretty ****. That being said there where mistakes all through the squad. Don't think we'll win anything this year due to the amount of mistakes our backs make but as i said, the future's bright.

Ah, its not Mincer's fault. He just wants to be picked for Ireland noticed Kidney likes an inside centre who drops the ball :p

In fact, pretty much all our internationals came back a bit off form... thank gods for the kids and Ruan Pienaar's boot!
