Speaking as a Bath supporter, I do kind of agree with you. It must be frustrating for Irish supporters, and us seemingly picking on one club quite so specifically does seem particularly harsh!
However, the best will in the world will not change the fact that the game is also a business, and teams with money will spend it on players. The salary cap is there to stop that going out of control, but it will never stop being the case entirely. Clubs which are more successful financially, for whatever reason, will continue to have more money to spend than those less successful. Its' a professional game, and I can't see any realistic way of changing that. We could I suppose debate the merits of introducing the US-style draft system till the cows came home, but it would be purely academic because in reality it would never happen.
One final thing to add, as a Bath supporter, is that I a) do not want the salary cap abolished (selfishly it would be good for us, but bad for rugby and bad for England); and b) I hope that means that the extra money we have available compared to other clubs can be put into our academy and scouting system. That should be the real benefit of the salary cap, that the richest clubs can use their money to their advantage but only in areas which are not wages - so, developing young players. I would like to see Bath in future years pumping out class young English players, rather than nicking yours ...
