Don't know if I agree with that, he was mostly good but his exits and kicking from the tee were both mixed and areas Joe would want to focus on. He'll probably go and deservedly so but I'd be happy with either.Carty has really blown Ross Byrne out of the park.
Devin Toner really is useless in the lose.
That's fair but it's still a one on one tackle at the end of the day he should have executed. He looked jumpy defending from the wing unsure when to commit which is completely fair of course.Think Heaslip was right, he's shooting up on the outside shoulder to cut off the option of the pass and force Patchell to cut inside, he probably should have made the tackle but it is a difficult one. He needed a stronger hunt from the lads on his inside.
TBF Wales were winning the scrum for the later parts of the game but weren't rewarded. Welsh bench changed the game but beaten by the clock. Couple of obvious inclusions to the world cup squad?Welsh scrum has struggled in all 3 warm-ups so far. How many scrum penalties have they given up over those 3 games?
Still not sure on Scott he's still a fair bit away from that line breaking form 3 years ago , something tells me his ship has sailed not sure he'll get that backPatchell good. Scott Williams did more than Watkin for me. Still hard to call on the back three. Amos ok, Lane ok with a try. Some big calls tomorrow, on to the WC now!
Wales were appalling for 60min. Couldn't go 30sec without an error. Incredibly frustrating to watch. Ireland applied pressure, sure, but I generally thought the Welsh players were more to blame. Navidi made 2 bad defensive errors in the lead up to Stockdale's first try, very rare you see that. Wtf was Shingler doing with that offload for Stocker's second?
Gat's biggest mistake today? Putting any faith in Leon Brown. The guy get's munched in the scrum on a consistent basis, he was never in contention for the WC, better off giving Dillon Lewis another game. He probably cost us the game, even if some of the calls were a little unfair.
Patchell cemented his place on the plane. He was magnificent after coming on, both in attack and defense. I like Jarrod, but he went into his shell unfortunately, Patch came on and bossed the game. Tomos Williams maybe showed why he could be our best option at 9 as well.

Number 1 for 1 week. Shortest reign ever?
So just got back from the game and am obviously disappointed with the Welsh performance (or lack there of). Well played to the Irish second string they looked for more hungry and sharper than our boys today and while a terrible game they showed up when was needed.
There are a couple of positives to take from a Welsh perspective though (although only a couple), I think Patchell ensured he goes to Japan today and although he's had an awful season (regardless of mitigating circumstances) I have always thought that on form he should be the Welsh first choice 10 and certainly be on the plane. I think the latter has been confirmed today and although I would've like Evans to have gone better, Patchell fills the gap left by the Anscombe injury (by this I mean not only at 10 but also at 15 where Anscombe found himself for quite a bit of the 6N) far better.
Also, Jake Ball seemed to make a genuine difference to Wales when going forward and he looked more than up to standing in for Cory Hill or Adam Beard when required. Owen Lane also took his try quite well, as well as the right side of attack looking fairly dangerous during the second half.
Apart from that I saw few positives or opportunities taken by a lot of players who you'd like to think would be busting guts to make the World Cup.
In a way I feel happy for the Irish as being a Welsh fan, I've felt like they felt last week a few times over the years and they are a fine squad and hopefully this'll give them a boost to have some confidence going in to the big one. We need to buckle down next week and make sure that the boys who actually looked able today get a chance to make amends next week within a stronger selection.

Not enough time to arrange a Parade!!!!
From a neutral's perspective, I thought Ireland were the better team in the first half and Wales were the better team in the second. The win probably flattered Ireland a little IMO.
For Wales, Tomos Williams and Patchell made a huge difference and Aled Davies and Jarrod Evans may be lucky to make the plane.
I have to say, I don't get it with Beard? I'm not sure I've ever seen anything from him to justify why he's considered to be ahead of Ball. That said, Bradley Davies looked well past being a test contender, let alone a RWC squad option.
