RWC: South Africa - Wales (11-09-2011, 20:30)

Wow, the welsh can't even think of their own comedy!! had to copy this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_khc0-T3jrA

from 2008!

Well seeing as theres hundreds of different videos using that scene then one can only suggest that the one you've posted is "unoriginal" also. I must apologise on behalf of the whole of the welsh public for being unoriginal!! I shall no longer post unoriginal videos. Just a bit of fun pal ;) ;)

Another unoriginal video to throw in the stirring caldron!!!! :p

Anyways to put thread back on topic. I've slept on team selection and I'm a bit mixed. I feel that

Priestland deserves his chance at 10, looked quite solid against the Saes so i'm looking forward to seeing him play again. Yet again Hook is moved about, and on the counterattack i believe it could be benefitial to have Hook at 15, but his positional play in defense is a worry (just inexperience in the position).

Seems as if its gonna be a colossal battle in the back-row, and probably be dominated by forward play - SA will try and smash us up front. I just hope we can solidify our set pieces. Charteris in second row is an indication that their trying to sort the line, just hope Bennet can hit his men!!!

While Hook at 15 is unfortunate, he is the only Welsh player to look somewhat solid back there recently. His running isn't as good as a 15's should be, but his kicking game will be a necessity.
No problem with Priestland starting at 10. He played well there in the Summer tests and certainly merits selection. Charteris over Davies is the most bizarre selection, probably due to lineouts as others have said. I hope Alun Wyn can put on a few more performances like the one against Argentina.

Shame Ryan isn't fit, he looked like he was finding some sort of form. Faletau had the nod over Powell in defence, but he will need to calm down when he gets the ball in his hands. We know what he can do, he just has to step it up.

North v Halfpenny was a tough call. North has been in excellent form, while Halfpenny has been stuggling with injuries but when on-form a very capable wing. If Priestland/Hook struggle I'd expect to see him used as a fullback.

For once, I am not too worried by Bennett. Based on recent form he was improved drastically and pops up in the loose quite often. I only wish we gave Ken Owens a shot before the World Cup.

Why has Charteris been selected ahead of Davies? Is Davies carrying a knock?

Or even swap Priestland and Hook around, Priestland is a capable fullback tbh so if things do go ***s up I imagine the plan first would be to move hook to 10 and priestland to 15.

Unfortunetly i dread that day :( :( The welsh team will not be the same without the wizard :( :(

I can only imagine charteris is picked for his height alone. Our line out has been improving slightly, and with the Bokks being known for contesting in the line.....

for Fiji and Samoa's sake i hope its a low scoring win to SA, but i think SA will run away with it by the third quarter

I think this will be very interesting and extremely difficult to play match for both sides

May it happen to become very dramatic as well, because I can't assign a complete leader or favorite medal to any of the teams in this match

I think this will be match where ball possession and territorial advantage will play less role in victory ;)

Hardout aye brother.

No doubt Wales can win, no doubt whatsoever but the 'Boks are a very good bet to win. Im tipping a low scoring game, on the spot guess Id say......28-19 to the Boks.

Should be the game of the week.

Agree, despite my high thoughts and sympathy for Wales (but still for SA too) I think SA will win this match with small advantage

I'd say call up Delve, but it'll be JT because he covers lock as well as 8/6 (like Jones) - despite being awful at all three positions

I'm now just praying that we dont end up playing like England and Scotland did today. :/

R
yan Jones could miss three of Wales' pool games

Call up for JT on the cards....blech

Has been mentioned all week but the press only have picked up on it now.

News from the camp is that its better than expected and is likely to be okay. They are assessing him after the South Africa game.

Also can't wait for the 'you ain't getting out of the group stages' talk tomorrow if we lose.
