Chris Wyles come back and D'Arcy injury can very well shortened the margin. Ireland is a specialist in choking at RWC, they only escape an historic defeat against Georgia because of a stupid referee.
Ireland won't do anything at this WC because they just don't have any margin of collective improvement. Some teams like New Zealand, Ireland, or Scotland who are unable to enlarge their player pool because of nationalist consideration have no margin of improvement, that's why, like in 2007, the "open" nations who benefits from overseas players and two months training together will rule the 2011 edition.
At every World Cup (when it matters), Ireland regain his normal level around the 10th nation in the world. By the way, they are lucky to have a weak pool without Pacific Nations or Georgia.

Why does everyone rate France the Northern Hemispheres top team?
France are probably the best in the NH at the moment, but England have a great record against France, you play 3 games in Dunedin without moving (making it a home base technically) and it's a comparatively weaker group IMO, so you should have less injuries / tired players for the knockout stages. The bookies are not stupid and know this full well.. Also, you have Wilkinson! - the next entrant into the international and IRB hall of fame if he has another great tournament - no question. Why does everyone rate France the Northern Hemispheres top team?
