Roundabouts and other driving pet peeves

If driving at over 100mph one handed while filming yourself doesn't wanted even the previous maximum penalty of 14 years then what does? If you're going to have a deterrent then you need to use it.

Stuck behind someone snailing along at 35-40mph on a national speed limit main road today.

Feels to me that it's getting worse on the roads in terms of lack of patience and abuse.

I just can't understand it. When I see a driver with an L or a P, I give extra space. It's a particular type of ******** that gets a kick out of harassing these people, invariably cowards who enjoy the power trip of abuse without consequence. I hope all learner cars are fitted with cameras and every one of these arseholes faces severe punishment.

They've got to report them to police with footage. Helps having front and back dashcam. Sadly few do. I myself have reported over 50 now in the last 3 months since I got my e-bike.

I do agree it's a power trip slower learner drivers and cyclists are in their way and are just an irritant to them where in their thick minds they take priority.

One of my big peeves. Come across so many when out cycling but there are just so many for councils to fix around where I live I can't see it getting any better.

Also Interesting article in ST on Cycling Mikey. Seems like he creates so much vitriolic abuse and divisive opinions even though he's catching lawbreakers behind the wheel. Sure no one likes to be snooped or snitched on but it seems like these people who do use their mobiles behind the wheel, close passing cyclists and drive on the wrong side think they should get away with their driving behaviour and just carry on. Some people just don't like being told that they are in the wrong.

Just report them. I don't particularly like the pleasure he seems to get from crowing about it.

Road maintenance is one of those false economy things. It's always one of the first things to have its budget cut but ends up costing an absolute fortune and much more disruption later on when (if) they ever try to get around to actually fixing stuff.

Audi drivers. You stop the car before the line. Not in line with your feet.

Yeh that's the other objection others made but I don't think he derives pleasure in what he does. You could argue he's doing a civic duty and making others aware not to use mobile phones whilst driving. Even in stationary traffic. And he only uploads it after due process has taken place.

Edit: I can honestly say that after a cycle ride if I come back without having report some dick who has close passed me then I am very happy and relieved.

Yep but like any maintenance if you don't keep on top of it then it'll only get worse. It's a vicious cycle.

*warning foul language and hilarious dive*

Right up there with the Ronnie Pickering road rage.

Why do some drivers ignore signs like the road ahead is closed and just continue to drive through? SMH at the sheer stupidity.

Because they put the road closed signs miles away from where the roads actually closed. Most of the time where I live it'll be a side road 2 miles from where the road closed sign is.

Yeh but there's a reason to give them plenty of warning. Don't drive right past it. What do they think is going to happen? Still, funny when they U turn and drive back the other way past me walking right through and I'm laughing at them.

Once again, nobody comes off well here. These people are the Just Stop Oil of the road safety world. If this guy was really interested in road safety, he wouldn't have been pulling onto roads that people were crossing on and narrowly missing them, nor would he have been distracting a driver at a stop sign or cycling on the pavement. No doubt he would argue that everything he did was in the public interest, but the balance of probability suggests to me that he's a self-publicist and a vigilante.
