RBS 6 Nations - Wales vs Scotland (12-02-2012, 15:00)

There are some wingers you'd never play fullback e.g. Chris Ashton, Hosea Gear, Luke Fitzgerald...

Just to be pedantic, Ashton was primarily a Fullback in League and started there in Union before becoming more use to the wing, and Fitzgerald spent most of the last Six Nations wearing 15.

To be honest, I'll take a win in any form as I can see Scotland coming at us pretty hard and fast on the back of that loss to the English. It'll probably be a lot like the 2010 game- Scotland lose at home to a team not playing that well, then come up to Cardiff looking to play a bit more rugby, having changed their 10. Here's hoping we can really go for it and pull off one of the thrashing we tend to give them on Grand Slam years...

Yes yes tis I!!!! Was on it last week being the "Kicking Tee" (first Round with Gerald Davies was a disaster, but second round with Densil of Pobl Y Cwm is so far a high score, not even Gareth Edwards could beat :p :p)

And yes I am sat behind Nigel owens.. Cue innuendo's ;) ;)

In all seriousness I can't wait for Sunday though, Taking my Girlfriend to her first ever Rugby Game (and first experience of the staidum). Cannot wait!!!
Hate to sound like a massive stalker now, but were you in the Poet's Corner on City Road today by any chance??!!

I said they shouldn't be played there league is different to union and the Fitzgerald one was a joke remember he was terrible at fullback in the last 6n.

You have to remember that Fitzgerald's latest stint at full back happened to coincide with the worst form of his career, regardless of position. He probably would have looked as bad on the wing. He's played full back quite a few time for Leinster in the past, especially earlier in his career, and looked pretty competent.

I know at the time I thought he'd be a better fb than Kearney. It shattered his confidence completely. He could be a good one but I was more using it for a (obviously not very good) joke wasn't meant to be a 100% true. The other two wouldn't work there though.

Hang on lads ... thought this was the Wales vs. Scotland thread ....

God, wrong again Cymro!
s
Anyway, this had better be decent now. I need wales to give them a good trashing for my fantasy team to have any chance of a good week.

I have three teams one has 12 Irish and French players. Come on Wales though hopefully Gray, Denton and Laidlaw do well.

Just seen Sam Warburton's been ruled out.

No idea who's replacing him, presumably Powell to 6 or 8, with Lydiate or Faletau to 7 (whichever played there vs Aus in the WC) and Shingler to the bench?

Edit: Just seen Shingler has come straight in at 7, Ryan Jones captaining the side.

Shingler's never played 7 before. Interesting call, would have expected Lydiate to 7 and Powell/Shingler 6, or Powelly 8 and Toby 7. All the same, looking forward to Shingler making his debut, he's been in terrific form. Come on Wales!

Holy snap Wales have played well in the opening three minutes.

Will be interesting to see if they can keep this intensity up for the full 80.

Loved seeing Denton run right over the top of Faletau :p

Bloody hell, North just got ruined by Gray/Hamilton.
Massive massive hit.

Why aren't Wales choosing to unleash the hammer???

EDIT: My wish has been granted.

Off-loading?

What is this? Welsh getting a little dicked by injuries, but dare I say they are being enforced by some massive collisions about the park.

Nearly every time we are penalised Mr Poite points to one of Cross or Strokosch. Which one is it?

Does the Welsh defensive line understand the concept of 'offside'? :D

Luckily (for them) the ref doesn't understand it either!

Italy score 2 tries vs England in horrid conditions before half time and it's a "boring game".

Wales and Scotland play in a controlled environment, yet score 3 points a piece and cannot sniff the try-line without choking. Brilliant game with plenty of talking about.

*cough*
