Fair play to Cuthbert, i think he's only been in the blues ranks for like 3/4 months. Other than that, it was playing against the likes of Llandovery for the Cardiff rfc, so therefore it may have been a big step up. I suppose it was the same for North, but then again Cuthbert will never be as good as North. Not even Lomu was or is.

 I do wish people would stop comparing North to Lomu. They are very different players. Lomu was 10-15kg heavier, probably quicker (in his prime), and far more powerful. He did things on a rugby field that I've never seen before or again - I think 'freak' is the best word to describe him. North is very different player. He is certainly a big player for a wing, and he does use his size effectively (though not devastatingly like Lomu could). I think North actually reads the game better than Lomu, who despite being a freak with ball in hand didn't really put himself in try scoring positions as well as some of the AB's other outside backs at the time (e.g. Cullen, Wilson etc). If I was to compare North to another wing (in playing style) it would be Hosea Gear - a big powerful wing who is equally comfortable going around the outside or cutting back against the traffic, and able to offload very well in contact. I'm not trying to talk down North at all, I think he's a phenomenally talented young player. I just think it is a disservice to compare him to Lomu - either in style of play, or playing ability - at such a early stage of his career.

Anyways onto the game.... I'm think Wales will win, but I expect Scotland will put up a good fight. They should compete pretty well up front, and it should be a great battle among the loose-forwards, as Denton and Rennie (the butchered try aside) both had strong games against England. I'm looking forward to seeing Laidlaw at 10 (assuming he starts their), as he will hopefully bring some attacking spark to the Scotland backline. If Wales do get some dominance up front (or at the breakdown) Scotland may, like Ireland, struggle to contain Wales huge (and talented) backline.

Cuthbert picked up a knock on the head so thats why he went off at half time, he wasn't dropped. So i expect him to start.

Will any of the Cardiff bruisers try and nick them off me?

Will they kick my heid in if I can't pronounce Wllyddwlynnwwyyll properly?

You will be fine as long as you dont mind the ribbing of the lads around you when you start losing :p

Put Jonah in google and straight away you get the legend that is Lomu.

Type George in and you get Bush :D.

One Lomu, is a true global superstar and a legend of rugby. The other North, has the potential to be.

No, but if you act like that they might. ;)

Act like what?

I am being serious, the closest I can get to pronouncing Llanelli is sticking two fingers down my throat and trying to say SuperCaleyGoBalisticCelticAreAtrocious.

To be fair, if Mr and Mrs North called their son Catflapdingdong or something equally ambitious, he probably would be first result. Instead they plumped for the far kinder name of George.

That made me laugh, I am sure you got my point :D

Well, I must agree with this.

I think a few are righting off our Celtic cousins but their pack will be hand full, mark my words. Anyone not 100% fit in our side will be found wanting IMO.
I like the look of our back line but there is still alot of inexperience there.

WalesOnline are saying that Hook's going to start at Fullback and Lydiate at 6, with Ryan in the second row, unless Bradley's not banned.

Hook at fullback is an absolutely awful idea.
Why not play someone who is actually a fullback option for the future?

Halfpenny was thrown in at the deep end during the World Cup and coped fine. I think it's one of those positions that anyone with a good boot and a bit of guile with his head up can do well at. There's no reason why Hook won't do well at 15.

Halfpenny is a better option at 15 and perhaps more natural at the position. He has greater pace and a more powerful boot than Hook, and won't whinge when picked there.
Halfpenny is a long term option, as is Cuthbert for the wing. Hook just isn't an outside back.

Have never understood Gatland's obsession with picking Hook at fullback. We were lucky that Halfpenny took to fullback like a duck to water at the WC, because he wasn't given any gametime there by Gatland or the Blues beforehand. Hook lacks pace for a fullback, and doesn't hit the line. He's mostly fine under the high ball (although always seems to drop one per game), and has a decent boot. I don't think any part of his game particularily suits fullback (unlike Henson for instance who at least has a huge boot).

Hook is now also our only real backup for outside half aswell, with Tovey, Biggar and Morgan not up to the level required. Unfortunately for Hook, he makes an aswesome bench option, so that's where he's gonna find himself alot of the time.
