Razor Robertson gone?

multiple back to back super and NPC titles....his CV was as good as it gets short of already being proven on the interneational stage

everything im reading tells me he has to go, done himself no favours...BUT....its not just on him, talk of getting pressure to select BB because NZR had bent over backwards to give him a new contract through the next world cup, a cohort of established players that liked fozzie and had been fighting to keep him in the job that might not have liked someone coming in and wanting to change things

Haha, I know. He did really well in Super Rugby. In all fairness I think he should have been given more time with the New Zealand job. New Zealand are not as dominant as they once were but they are still one of the top teams in the world. Their previous dominance was ridiculous. South Africa who are regarded as the top team in the world now only beat New Zealand by (checks notes) point difference in the Rugby Championship last year. When New Zealand won, they would sometimes go unbeaten at their absolute peak. I think the All Blacks demise is greatly exaggerated by many. The way some people talk about them you would think they are on a tier with Scotland.

he was his own worst ememy by all accounts, started with selling himself on change, going to bring through the future like the Crusaders academy has done for decades...and yet we saw largely the same old faces trying the same old tricks...also sold everyone on having this amazing team culture...only for the board to receive multiple damning complaints, squad firmly divided into factions....double standards everywhere, EDG was stood down for a week after missing curfew and then when another player missed curfew they started

for me its not the actual results....its obviously the losses we could have / should have won...but lots of wins were ugly...moment of individual brilliance saving us and lots of fans i now just havent enjoyed watching the AB's over the last several years...ugly, messy, headless chook type rugby

no change in results and all the off field issues.....cant see an argument to keep him

I didn’t rate him as an international coach, but this is shocking.

Is Jamie Joseph the shoe-in for the next coach? I’d be absolutely shocked if Rassie allowed Tony Brown to have a contract break clause.

I dont know about that, Razor had already been announced as ABs coach when the Bokke approached Brown.....and so it would be a long shot the AB's would sack a coach within the next 2 years so if his only real condition was a highly unlikely possibility then it kind of makes some sense

JJ clear front runner from what ive heard, also heard Brown has already been released, Schmidt to come back in a director of rugby role as cant commit to the day to day coaching....possibly dave rennie to step in and cover the HIghlanders

How much confidence do you put in Brown being released? He just signed a deal through 2031 in December.

Also, if Rapport didn’t get wind of this, I’d be even more shocked. Hendrix Cronje has a direct line to Rassie.

have you got a link? i knew he was signed on through the RWC but 2031 sounds crazy, didnt think rassie had signed on that long

everything ive heard is rumour...but the rumours have been right so far...im pretty sure JJ wouldnt take it un less it was with Brown

if so...i kind of think its even more likely, i dont think Brown would sign on for so long without an escape clause, said publicly his goal was the AB's and to do it with JJ, theyve been aiming at it for more than 6 years

Apparently Rassie pushed to have the entire staff signed through 2031. That was what Rapport had written. I don’t ever recall them being wrong.
