Brazil vs Holland
Ghana vs. Uruguay

Those are our games today, hoping that the first match will be the first proper marquee game of the tournament, hoping for some great action there. The second game should be a good one as well, two teams who might not have expected to get this far suddenly in with a chance to reach the semi finals.

I'm tipping Brazil and Uruguay to go through, though would love to see Holland pip the Brazilians.

Please hold thumbs for Holland today guys!!! Do it for me :D

I want Holland and Uruguay to go through and I honestly believe they both can do it

I think Ghana might edge it past Uruguay, to be honest
Not sure about Brazil/Holland. Holland haven't been playing their best through the tournament so far, maybe they can bring it back, i'd like to see them get past Brazil

There's a difference between beautiful football and good football. In the last 10 years we have seen that beautiful football doesn't get you anywhere. This time Holland is playing a very serious type of football which might give them a chance to go all the way. It wpould be suicide to play the football Arsenal plays for instance.

I hope Uruguay (my favourite national football team ever since I was a little boy) and Holland (my home-country) will go through and play eachother in the semi's

Holland are robben Brazil of their semi-final spot (hyuck hyuck hyuck)

Wow ... Brazil lose ....

That Luis Fabiano is a waste of a striker.

My tournament prediction is looking mighty fine at the moment. The South Americans can't compete in this time zone.

YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an awesome victory!!! Shameful first half, brilliant second half people!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

(Sorry for all the uppercase letters, it's just out of control overhere!!!)

The Ghana match was mad!
They got one nil up, then Uruguay equalised.
Then 1minute before time, Suarez stopped a goal with his hand on purpose, red carded, Ghana get the penalty...and miss!
Then they lost on penalties,
Absolutely insane.
Ghana were very lively in attack tonight, would've absolutely loved them to have gone through to the next round :(

See in rugby there would be no penalty spot kick but a penalty try for that. That ball was clearly heading for the net and should have been a goal. FIFA should take a leaf out of rugby's rule book and look at bringing penalty goal's in.

Absolutely agree, it was obvious that he did it on purpose to stop the goal.
Do they have citings and the such in football? He shouldn't get away with just a red for that.

on anunrelated note did ayone hear that after losing to brazil 3 north korean players appealed for asylum and then were brought back to north korean camp where they completelty denounce it as bull....I reckon there were threats made should they fail to do well tis a strange one

Ghana had their chance. Both teams looked good, but neither worthy of the championship.

So the Dutch are the only africaans left in the tournament?

The handball discussion is null and void - them's the rules, and have been for years. And there were 2 Ghana players offside and so it should have been a free kick to Uruguay.

What more do you want? The rules are in place to deal with this situation. Whatshisface clearly denied a goalscoring opportunity. He was accordingly sent off and Ghana were presented with another scoring opportunity, which they fluffed. He got caught and, in my opinion, the punishment fitted the crime. Ghana being unable to convert the following penalty and their inability to hit home their kicks in the shootout saw them lose this game. Let's face it, if any of us had been in that position we would have handled too.

No, the Dutch are the only Dutch in the tornement.

That comment is like saying "So, Ghana are the only African American's left in the tornement".

I don't think not being sent down the tunnel when he was sent off. Being allowed to stand in the centre circle for the penalties and being championed by his team mates was not punished correctly. He was embraced by his team which sickens me a little because he clearly cheated Ghana from a goal. You can't deny that ... the ball was going in and Suarez took a punt at handballing it. He cheated and his gamble paid off, yes he was sent off and miss the next round, the penalty was missed and Uruguay won the penalties shoot out because the momentum was with them because of Ghana's miss. Fact still remains Suarez cheated and because of his act his team still remains in the World Cup.

No sympathy for Ghana. Everyone would have done what Suarez did, and if not, then more fool them.
