incredibly careless clearance leads to a try to Toulouse to make it 25-20 with a conversion to come. heart breaking. i wanted to see golden goals...

Never going to happen because Toulouse were leading 2 tries to 1.

ouch.. entertaining for a neutral though! thanks :)

During the course of that game the song about Vincent Clerc I invented during the Six Nations gained three verses.

Whould have been sick if Biarritz took this one. Can understand a team like this going so far in such a competition.
Logical and clearly deserved for Perpignan and Toulouse, who are much more collective, constructive and attractive than their oppositions. Nevertheless can't see Toulouse taking the advantage on Leinster on their field this year without another step forward in terms of ball conservation.

Terrible ref from Barnes, players doing what they want around mauls, yachvili can without any sanction push and tackle Bely in his side on a TLS scrum...

As Olyy said, one side with Ngwenya and Bolakor and the other is Heymans, Clerc and Médard...No finish photo needed.
First Toulouse try is a model, Clerc's run is a pure one and give Heymans a gold ball. These back three are back ! Poitrenaud as 12 is also very performing, especially under kicks and run.

For Bolakoro , this player is ****: instead of running for a smile at the camera on his try, he could have easily ran closer to the goals and insure the 2 decisive points that missed Yach.
Good illustration of players acting like stars instead of thinking collective.

It's a good point - could've easily got a few metres, at least, closer to the sticks - but took his dive and went to the camera instead

He was thinking - "Just score the damn try!" Very difficult ball to collect, and I guess with a bit more experience he would have gone closer to the posts.

Yachvilli had a brilliant game, master scrumhalf. So cruel to see him collapse at the end when he saw his mistake. C'est la vie - hehe! The rugby wasn't great, but a great finale.

Equal ranking for all remaining teams - can't see a clear favourite.

I totally agree. I'm surprised that this has not said as much as it should, the guy could have touched down between the posts almost.

Just saw the highlights...That Heymans try is orgasmic, the step...

Oh and Vincent Clerc should play outside center...

He would be smashed by the heavy ouside centers ou there. Not nearly good enough in defense

I don't buy it. He's got very good upper body strength and is very reliable in defense. He's lost pace and footwork since his injury but I'm convinced he'd make a very good 13.

Edit: Clement Poitrenaud is lighter than him and plays center...

But Poitrenaud has proven to be an effective (though not outstanding) tackler. Clerc's tackling has been his historical weakness.

And www.stadetoulousain.fr lists Poitrenaud as being 90kg and Clerc being 86. Same in scrum.com

BO did well to get this far!!

Would agree with everything said about Bolakaro and appears to me that once, when he actually caught the ball, Balshaw had to tell him what to do with it!

I feel that BO has suffered from some poor signings in the last few years and this has left the club with too many players not considered for the first team and taking up salaries, hence, little strength in depth.

For instance, with Barcella out injured, Coetzee has had to play every game and Marconnet, who is surely a better impact player, has had to start too often. I dare say that a number of players who have had to take the field should not have done through some sort of injury or other to their and the clubs future detriment. There are young players like Barraque at 10 and Lesgourges at 9 and Couet Lannes at 15 (unfortunately long term injured) but these seem to be the exception in that they get the occaional game but very few other young players do.

I would also point to 10 where BO have tried at least five players in that position this season and would now appear to have signed a Fijian (very good) sevens player......please name me one sevens player who has really made a significant impact but am prepared to be perusaded next season.

As regards this game, they were short of Haylett Petty at 15 (leaving Balshaw to take the 15 and Bolakaro onto the wing), Barcella, as mentioned, Traille, and August which plus certain players not thought up to it or off form, left the team desperately short of fire power to take on a team like Toulouse. The latter contributed to the tight result by taking their foot off the gas at half time, like they did in a league game at Anoeta last season when they were eventually beaten, but credit must be given to the BO players who certainly upped their game and showed spirit.

How about one last criticism....Wayne Barnes was in charge at the Stoop for the Quins v Leicester game last week and gave six penalties and two yellow cards before resorting to a penalty try. Why did the BO management not do their home work and realise continued scrummaging on the five yard line would be unlikely to yield a penalty try?

Aupa BO...

What are you on about? Clerc's never been weak on defense !? That's the best part of his game since his injury...

Agree with that, I remember him tackling very quickly and efficiently, especially in association with another player, and chasing a bit like Dusautoir.
Advantage on Poitrenaud as center is in my opinion his experience at fullback that make him really dangerous after up and unders.
Surely to be promoted when Beauxis is entering the team (not especially fan of this game, but will give ST more variety in its attack).
