I'll ask again...Why is it that there's always players lashing out when playing Northampton?

Infuriatingly good pack ? I don't know i just think Ashton comes off as a bit of a D-Bag

HINT: it was a rhetorical question...It's probably because they are a lot of mouthy Wums...In which case they deserve everything they get...

Just on another issue why does everyone presume Manu will go world cup when you have those iconic guys like Banahan and Tindall ahead of him for 13 jersey :p

Well, I'm quite torn; on the one hand I don't want someone playing for England who's going to have red-card outbursts like that, but then the pacific islanders clearly already have plenty of players with short fuses and a difficulty understanding basic tackling rules without signing a Tuilagi. Can we just cap him then ignore him?

The citing window's not a great indicator of when it's going to happen, there's usually a bit of a gap between the club being told and the press release afaik.

Ah, Good point, I remember being amazed that Cueto hadn't been cited only for the press release to be the following morning

Just read that the RFU are doing their press release tomorrow with the hearing on Wednesday

No we tackle fine, its just that its too much for some people. In the islands, actually all of the southren hemisphere (not trying to make this a NH vs SH thing, hate that) guys tackle with bad intentions but they try to keep it within the laws. People use to say our team the Manu Samoa had hard defence, others say the All Blacks are a real physical team why?...because of their aggression in defence.

If Ashton smashed Manu the way Manu smashed him, I would've been like 'nice but unfortunate he tackled him without the ball'.

I think I should clarify my comments from earlier. I wasn't suggesting that Manu was justified in socking Ashton because of his swan dive tries like some have interpreted I was.

My example of what I thought might happen at the RWC was a situation where I could see an opposing player not take kindly to being shown up. I was merely pointing out how Ashton rubs many the wrong way with his attitude on the pitch and that it was only a matter of time before he pushed(in this case literally) a player with a temper over the edge. Manu should have recieved a red and will receive a ban and I agree with that, but I don't think Ashton is completely blameless either.

If Tuilagi is picked by England for the RWC.... His emotions will be his weakness.

Guys have seen this... Now all they have to do is shove Tuilagi.. and wait for him to get a yellow or red Card.

He has great talent. Lets hope he gets rid of the quick temper.

From Ben Youngs...In a Newspaper

Ben Youngs is pleading with Saturday's citing commissioner to show leniency as Leicester Tigers youngster Manu Tuilagi stands on the brink of missing the Aviva Premiership final.

Scrum-half Youngs is hoping the citing officer will take into account Tuilagi's age and relative inexperience when he considers if any further action is necessary. He told the Mercury: "I hope Manu just gets a slap on the wrist as it will be a shame to have the chance of playing in a final taken away from him."

Also from a Tigers fan in the same Article..

I am a Tigers season ticket holder and am disgusted by some supposed rugby fans on here who suggest punching other players is part of the game, rubbish. Rugby is a very physical game, played with sportsmanship, not a game where blatant assault should be common or indeed applauded, punching people in the temple (a deadly action) is disgusting in any guise, sport or no sport. It is an awful thing for children to see, and an illegal action in any wal;k of life. What would you backers be saying if he had died or been left disabled by this, all because a 19 year old who according to some is too young to control himself lost his temper.

shtove... a few things.

1. youngs & allen poor? I know youngs hasn't been in form of late but that was one of his best games since the 6N. Did nothing wrong, and kept Saints honest around the fringes. As for Allen... what did he do wrong, at all, to be considered poor? Him and Brad Barritt are about a mile ahead of any other fit 12 in the prem at the moment... I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for some sensible selections for England post world cup (no chance of it beforehand)... 9. Youngs 10. Flood 11. Ojo 12. Allen 13. Tuilagi 14. Ashton 15. Foden would be sweet as.

2. ban Tuilagi for a year? Yes he lost it, yes there was definitely intent but really, a year? Punching is still punching, whether you're throwing a jab-jab-hook combo like Manu or throwing the usual handbags that we see week in, week out. In light of the fact he wasn't punished sufficiently during the match, he should certainly receive a suspension... but throwing a few bangs merits no more than a month out.

3. Geraghty on earlier? Myler is nothing special, but at least he can appear to be able to control a game. The only reason I'd throw Geraghty on at all vs. Leinster is if they're down by 10+ with 20 to go, and he might spark something. Otherwise he can warm that bench and watch Myler kick goals and corners to keep the pressure up.

Youngs makes bad decisions. He had one dart inside the defence.

Allen had loads of possession, didn't make a single break. Good player, but a lightweight.

If Tuilagi's last punch had landed on Ashton's jaw, Ashton wouldn't be playing anymore. Tuilagi's only 19 - give him a year to understand - maybe he'll come back with the ability to sidestep and pass ... and play some ****ing rugby.

Geraghty is the only way Saints will break Leinster. Their great pack was muscled out by Leicester, and Leinster's defence out wide is almost perfect (Darcy *cough!*). Let the backs loose - Saints only chance. Thankfully they still have Ashton, and with him and Foden running lines off Geraghty, Leinster may crack in the midfield. If it happens it will be an amazing match, because Leinster are certain to do them out wide (saw Ashton miss three tackles against London Irish a couple of weeks ago).

But probably a borefest!
