Premiership Rugby 20/21 - Rd 21

Really looking forward to Sale vs Exe now that's going to be attritional as *****.

Decent run out,

Back to back vs Exeter is going to be tough, though - going to be some battered battered bodies out there

"You don't see too many 19yr old loosehead props" - playing against Harrison and Rodd, who were both 19 when they made the firsts
Baxter is a tighthead who I can only assume was covering loosehead because Marler is being rested and Els is injured.

My favourite part of that quote was that he actually said "You don't see too many 19yr old loosehead props playing in the tight five', as if you ever see 19yr old looseheads playing outside of the tight five.

Since Sinckler isn't going to be on the Lions tour, we can pick him as a 10.

Considering the leg strength props have he can probably blindly hoof the ball 80 odd metres down the pitch no sweat, which is pretty much all England's 10 needs to do in EJs gameplan

If Chiefs win tomorrow do we think Sale might accept their fate in 3rd and save players given they cant drop to 4th. Having a tough game vs chiefs twice would be brutal! For both teams they rest players in final round then let chiefs put out a strong team

It's really hard to say,
There's a lot to be said for momentum
I'm kind of on the side of Ben Kay, last night, in we just go full bore for the rest of the season - only three games left, if there's injuries then we've got decent depth. Just wrap them up in cotton wool during the week(/get them all in man cities cryo therapy chambers)

When axe first joined we were changing out most of the side each week and our form was all over the place, I don't wanna risk us not being our best in the playoffs because we've made 23 changes next week

I still haven't fully understood Quins decision to virtually surrender last nights game with their team selection. They still had a chance for top 2 yet surrendered any chance. Surely they would have been better off giving it a go, then if they still lost ,rest players next week. To base team selection on what may happen in other teams future matches (Saints could beat Chiefs) seems really negative. Are they going to rest players next week too ?

Bristols game today isn't a gimme IMO.

I don't think they'll rest next week, they'll use it to prepare their players for the semis. Tbh they needed everything to go their way to get 2nd and I think on balance the risk of injuries wasn't worth trying for a position that was actually out of their hands. Even if they took 10 points over the 2 games, it still could not have been enough. It's different for Sale if they will both games with BP and Exeter don't get more than 1 BP in either game then Sale would go 2nd. For me they are competing for a ***le, they need to give themselves the best opportunity they can.

Exactly this.

I also think momentum going in to the play-offs is overrated.

We are the underdogs anyway and in a knock-out situation, I'd argue form is irrelevant.

I think for Quins to get top 2 it would need Chiefs to get nothing this round and then the final game vs Sale be a draw: pretty long odds on that

I don't see an issue with resting players - sure they could've pushed for third place, but they've had some injuries and bans, recently, so won't want to risk any more.
Give the key players a weeks rest and then ramp back up in the final round

2nd was always unlikely and TBH, I'd rather play Bristol than Exeter or Sale.

I'd be far more inclined to back us in a loose, end-to-end game. We don't cope well against bigger, more physical sides, so Exeter and Sale are kryptonite teams for us.
