As a purely personal thing - I agree.
It's part of why I've always wanted a 10, or even 8 team league.

BUT to do that, you need a properly organised 2nd XV tournament, a greater variety of opponents brought in (IMO via the 2nd XV tournament) and greater jeapardy - whilst not having relegation as a threat to a club's existence (which it never really has been)

Yes, but the 2nd XV could be 'farm' teams like in US baseball.
The big clubs use smaller clubs as development and injury return matchplay for squad players.

I'm a big Hendy fan but not sure he has the physicality needed for international 15, he gets ragdolled in contact quite a lot (carry and defence)

Not a bad option as generalised back 3 cover when Daly ages out of the setup, though, and Saints aren't a bad place for sleight players to bulk up (like Furbank's progression there, and Sleightholme coming back from injury looking South African)
