Pop Balls

Sorry back on topic. Man at least we have an offload option even if there is not much choice of who it goes to at least there is the option to keep the game play flowing.

A bit like real rugby guys and you are about to offload the ball there is normally only one option for the offload depending from which side you are tackled etc. Its not like you have the chance as you are being brought down to think hold on let me look left & right (you can occasionally if it is a weak tackle)and then offload. There is normally only one guy literally on your shoulder and the the other guy is fraction to far away to receive the offload in most cases. The guy running in support will normally run to the correct side as it easy for him to see which side he will be able to offload on.

I am sure Los will have other ideas!

Hey Los just out of interest and this is not an attack so take a prozac before you read this, do you still play rugby or have you ever played for real.

Hmmm wonder if the bait is big enough to attract a Los White

haha!!

well, a little off topic...BUT...

YES! I am a kiwi....I only played one year after school (grammar old boys) and now play soccer (
<
) and cricket. I probably played, say, 8 years of rugby..

marist club, grammar (real bad teams until seventh form when made 4A (weight graded team) and won auckland championship etc etc...

When I played for the **** 5C and 4C teams etc...I was captain and played no exaggeration ALL of the following positions =

prop, hooker, blindside flanker, openside flanker, no 8, halfback, frist five, second five, centre, both wings and fullback.
<
tis true.

In 7th form I squeezed in at prop (lame). But wanted A team glory etc and was worth it.....cracked a hundred a couple of times etc....good fun. Did miss half the year with shoulder pop/ac joint etc....
<
<
didn't even happen in a game...
<

Hope answers question
<

back on topic: I would like to direct my pop balls....what if it is 2 player and my mate runs the inside line and the ai goes outside, cos we need to score under the posts or something...and it throws it to the wide guy. We will be ****** off!!!! lol!

Nah game looks good - but want to know three things in detail.....I guess we've covered pop ball now for better or worse....so anyone with answers for us on AI difficulty on hardest level (attacking inventiveness, ability to score with no errors in defence to allow it, just skill etc etc) and ideas/answers on edutung system....would be MUCHO appreciated.

to be fair,

i think los has a point, offloads should have been integrated into the standard passing system (ie, hold down the button gong into the tackle and release for the offload etc). it does sound a little like the new system sounds like a bolt on addition.

given the choice of player for the offload gives you the ability to make a good or bad choice and there is potential for **** ups.

from what the guys who have played it have said, it seems like its a little too accurate at the moment.

i spose we will have to wait and see.

i played third div npc when i was a lad and i doubt there were many who ever got a decent offload from me. the one option was a bit too much choice normally. [/b]
<

that's very self-effacing of you.

yeah - you put it very well - I want to be able to stuff it up, so when I get it right I can be like:

I judge a sports game by whether it ever leads me to fist pump.

the fist=pump factor is crucial - I have fistpumped in PES5, blics and, yes, even rugby 2005....maybe once in RL2....but rarely now - don't really play at the mo'....

Never even thought abiout fist-pumping anything but the screen (and snapping the game were it mine) when playing cricket 2004 or 2005, WCR or NRL (yes, I do think the aequel is better)....don't start me on rugby 2001 and the game we dare not speak of.

Mate; Los is ice-cool now. Nothing can get him out-of-control anymore.
It's our new emotocons, he's using them to express his irritation rather than making threats! and we're all happier for it

.

is it still just the 30 players on the feild ? or have they realised that u need a bench and trainers etc

Knowsley and Locks - how bad is the diaginal running in rugby06?
As bad as 05?
I dont know, seems pretty much the same to me. Although I havent played R2005 for some time.

Ha Ha, nice one on the fist pump!! Its definately a great way to judge sports games. I think locks has mentioned punching the air a few imes, hopefully in relation to 06. I still remeber the first time i did it, I was playing Joe Montanas sportstalk football on megadrive, I kicked off to my mate he fumbled after the first hit and i picked it up and scored. I jumped up and pumped my fist YES!!!!! My mate told me to calm down.

thanks....

I totally agree with this. In real rugby when you offload, you don't have a choice of who to offload to, you only offload to the guy on your shoulder. So I haven't got a problem with that.

I would have problem however if every single offload went to hand without a knock on etc. I would prefer RC2006 way of initiating an offload but with a more realistic outcome.

Mate I would not mind it all if the offloads went to hand I mean rememeber old JLR used to go to hand every time and man that game flowed.

I would hate it if the programe decided when it will not go to hand imagine if you made a great break with a man on your shoulder only for the computer to decide that it was not going to hand due to the fact you had 3 offlaods already in the game. If you get the option for an offload which will not always be the case as the game play trailer showed I would want it to go to hand for the sake of gameplay.

I don't want the computer to just "decide" if there's a knock on or not. It should be computed based on the passing ability of the carrier, the handling ability of the receiver, the tackling/power stat of the tackler and the type of tackle being performed.

One of the reasons why PES is so good in the football world is because every pass, tackle, cross, shot, save etc, is computed on the fly based on the abundance of player stats.

A special "offload" ability would be good... This coupled with a "vision" ability could help determine how successful the offloader is, and how well the offloadee is in position...

Yeah true bud but we have to be realistic I mean PES is in another league. Not even Fifa can get to that level of realism. So I think unfortunatley rugby games will be very scripted for a long time to come as in the offload scenario that I described.
