Player of the Tournament nominees...

I see it being between Williams and Clerc really. Blair as an outside bet, but given we've been gash I doubt he'll win it, even if it an award for the individual.

Who was it in 05 again? Martyn Williams?

They should give it to the Jones clan for once.

I wouldnt look beyond Sergio Parisse myself.

I'd say Williams and Jones would be his direct competition and if they win the Grand Slam, it'll be one of those two.

The nominations are spot on from my point of view. Jones has been excellent but I think Williams has made the most impression with his superb tries.

They need to make this into a proper award, none of this public nominating nonsense, it should be a panel of experts who generally know what they're talking about, a glorified opinion poll devalues the award for me, you only have to look at O'Driscoll winning it in 2006, that was the biggest joke of all.

Wales
* Martyn Williams
* Shane Williams
France
* Vincent Clerc
* Cedric Heymans
Italy
* Sergio Parisse

Has to be Parisse, its not easy to perform in a side that rarely wins but he does it in virtually every game. Most of Clercs tries were simple run ins so second would be Williams for me.

Williams will probably win it for the tries against Scotland (the try that wasn't a try :)) and Ireland. Comparing him to last year where he seemed really reluctant to let anybody else have the ball (especially against Italy), he's been fantastic.

Mike Blair has definitely been Scotland's best player but I can't see him winning since his good work hasn't been as visible as Clerc/Williams. If he continues in this vein I think he can secure the no. 9 shirt for the next Lions tour.

I think it should be by public acclaim - but only if the public really gets the opportunity to consider it and vote. Not a fan of experts. Mind you, each member of the Welsh public is an expert.

I'd go for Parisse - anyone outside the core backrow-midfield isn't really in a position to boss a match. And he's another Argentine playing over here. Nuff said.

Well with what I am watching at the moment, Parisse would deserv to be the man of this turnament!

This is a tough one so I am gonna use the WWAD technique and pick....

IAIN BALSHAW!!!

Parisse without a shimmer of doubt, with Martyn Williams as a very, very close second. His story might have been prettier (grand slam, finishing try, etc), but the amount of effort Parisse put into his role at no.8, his taking over captaincy, his pure class and flair deserves to be rewarded. He deserves the prize.

Parisse or Martyn Williams would be my choices but it's obvious who's going to win it.

I would say Sergio Parisse however I can see Shane Williams actually winning it due to the public.
