Now the 6N are over, I thought it would be interesting to discuss how the players performed for your team. I considered the following categories but if anyone else has ideas, feel free to add them:
- Best player
- Worst player
- Most improved/Exceeded expectations
- Most disappointing
- 1 player from another team you want most
For England I'd say
Best player - Ben Youngs. JJ has been very good and I think Tuilagi will have a hard time getting the 13 shirt back, if at all, but the way Youngs has controlled some of the games is really good. Only gripe is he still does box kicks to nowhere.
Worst player - Jonny May. Pretty ineffectual really. I'd love to see him shine but he never seems to perform well. For someone who was in all games, Burrell. He didn't offer much as a crashball 12, did poorly as a distributing one and had pretty poor handling skills. Pity because he seemed good at 13 last year.
Most improved/Exceeded expectations - Jack Nowell with an very honourable mention for JJ. Both shown an ability to break the gain line that England have lacked.
Most disappointing - Attwood. This is more due to my very high expectations of him. He was ok but really not that effectual, nowhere near his form at Bath or as an impact sub.
Player from another team I most want - Pretty difficult, Murray and Sexton are both good candidates but I'm not sure either added to the team alone would offer a significant improvement. I think I'd take Scott Williams at 12 over Burrell.
