Official Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas thread

I think something along the lines of GTA:Widness would have more of a ring to it personally.

Thinking ahead, as always, wonder if the next installment (yes, after GTA: San Andreas) is going to be a GTA: London type of thing.

Afterall, the original GTA contained three cities (Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas) and then they followed it up with . . . GTA: London 1969.

Hot damn. Now that would be cool.
Dear. God. No

Shouldn't be too hard. What, don't you like start off the game on a bicycle and maybe a baseball bat for a weapon. Yeah, I should put up a real good fight against the Los Santos police. A little SBC -- Suicide By Cop.

Gonna camp out near the Vinewood sign and kill all the assholes I encounter in traffic everyday. Hell, that's the only reason I'm getting the game in the first place -- Los Angeles drivers. Cannot wait to exact some well deserved roadrage in video game format on the constant barrage of yahoos I deal with on a day to day basis.

Let us know what you think about the game after you've played it. I will have to wait until friday to do the same.

IGN and gamespot have the first reviews.
gamespot gave it a 9.6/10
IGN gave it a massive 9.9/10!!
Also, I have a new favourite screenshot:

Is that a parachute on his back!?!!

Well, I'm not about spoilers and I'm not that far into it anyway. Hell, I don't even think I've completed the entire first mission of the narrative.

You kinda get caught up in driving around. And swimming(!). And exploring.

And the size of this game is mind-boggling. It's huge.

And it's as fun as ever, and very smooth. Great touches. Interaction with passersbys being particularly brilliant.

We swapped turns and I had the wife playing -- she was hellbent on getting money to get a haircut and go shopping (I indulge this sort of behaviour, to keep her off my back for playing the game myself). So she decided to do Taxi missions and collect fares -- all the while being a good citizen and obeying traffic laws.

As she goes to hijack a cab (the one crime she'd allow), she runs into a passerby who, at random, says very negatively, "Man, you smell like you come from England."

My wife, who is actually English, promptly stomped the living **** out of him, and then took to the streets with a vengence and very quickly had 3 stars and loads of cops after her English ass. Arse, rather.

I'm sorry I can't give many other details because I'm still baffled at the size of this thing. Naturally, there are highways/tunnels closed to access the other cities until you complete more missions, but . . . there are ways around and they do not involve cheating.

Judging by what I've done/fooled around with so far -- the game is highly inventive and loads of fun. Pedal bicycles are a genius touch. Saw a halfpipe somewhere too. Swimming is an excellent feature.

The game is ridiculous. Just, brilliant.

And the size . . . my god.

Have you had a go at 2 player yet?
No, not yet. Saw the basketball courts and stuff, but I'm thinking you need to progress a bit further before these 'open' up.
