O'Driscoll voted player of the championship

Ginger's analysis spot on.

Above all, BOD made the difference when it mattered. Giant. And I think he'll kick on from here.

He usually looks smug - that D4 self satisfaction - but O'Roth's picture says it all after nine years close to the top: Ecstasy

no, this is ecstasy...

Whether the player won the grand slam or not should not come into it sorry! But with a public vote, where there'll be less Italian supporters to put Parrise forward, O'Driscoll was always gonna win.

I'm in no way saying O'Driscoll was sh*t, he was up there with Parisse, O'Connell etc. as the standouts in this years tournament, but imo Parrise was slightly ahead. It's not his fault he's not playing for the best team in the competition and it's stupid to to cite that as your reason why he shouldn't have won!

f***s sake, the pair of them would have been worthy winners. As would O'Connell for that matter. Do you think Sergio Parisse is actually that bothered that he didn't win this?

How's that then? If it was a vote on here Parisse would have won it. Your either assuming that it was only between Irish and Italian voters. If not then its a seriously flawed arguement. BOD was better, end of.

What? So because you say so that's the end of it?

That's what I call a seriously flawed argument.

Two points.

1. Parisse sees a lot of the ball because his team is so poor. How many times does he field deep and run back in to midfield? That helps his team get position and not end up collapsing in its own 22. But it's not player of the championship stuff.

And here's the clincher:

2. End of. End of. End of.

are you after the biggest bullshitter award as well. :p

How totally one eyed of me to defend O'Driscoll who was clearly the player of the championship (and Irish), when a player of his ilk produces his best 6N I think it's fair to say it was the right call.[/b]

Fixed for justice. PROTIP: You really need to take down that Tricolor of yours when making posts of that nature.

Booo Doc, Hiiissss, boooooo! :bravo:

quite predictable that you try and paint me as a one eyed fan but were I any other nationality I'd have the exact same point of view but you edit my statement further to fit your point if that makes you feel better rather than taking the merits of my argument on board.

So how am I a one-eye'ed fan? Did you find my Italian passport! I've been rumbled!

Booo, Doc! Booooooooo! Its a fix! ITS A FIX!

It's hard for an Englander to remember.

No debate: Parisse is the best player in a horribly poor team, BOD won the Slam. End of.
Welshers and Englanders have to put up with it. Bothers you, not me.[/b]

That kinda sums it up for me too. No time for begrudgery.

Parisse may be excellent by English or Welsh standards, but us Irish, well we like to aim higher ;)
[/b][/quote]

This lumping the Welsh with the English is worrying me.

Plus a Scot agreed that Parisse should have got it.

I'm sorry but I have to agree. Parisse was the man. B'OD shone in a very good team; Parisse shone in a crap one.

Your point?

Of course a diamond will stand out more in a heap of shite than it will in a heap of crystals.

Saying that, i do think it was a close contest, but the fact is, BOD did what needed to be done when it needed to be done and because of that the Irish team now have 6 Nations medals and you can't look past that.

Parisse's young and I'm sure he'll win it eventually. Not that he actually cares with what he's probably being paid and the hot woman he has and all that.
