[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. Australia (05/11/2016)

Overall I'm happy with the selection considering who is out, don't really see what Cuthbert has done to warrant inclusion but there is a small chance he can get back to the form in his prime.

Australia team:

Australia: Israel Folau, Dane Haylett-Petty, Tevita Kuridrania, Reece Hodge, Henry Speight, Bernard Foley, Nick Phipps, Scott Sio, Stephen Moore (c), Sekope Kepu, Rory Arnold, Adam Coleman, David Pocock, Michael Hooper, Lopeti Timani.

Replacements Tolu Latu, James Slipper, Allan Alaalatoa, Rob Simmons, Scott Fardy, Nick Frisby, Quade Cooper, Sefa Naivalu

Not Cuthbert, the only reason for picking him that I can think of is he may have something on Howler, there are at least 3 wingers I'd prefer and 2 aren't even in the 23, in order of preference they are -:
Giles
Walker
Amos
Also better options to Lydiate at the minute would be King or Baker
As I thought Howler hasn't the balls to start with Sam D

Very uninspiring Wales team and unfortunately can't see anything but another Australian win.

Wales matchday squad:

15. Leigh Halfpenny (Toulon) (62 Caps), 14. Alex Cuthbert (Cardiff Blues) (42 Caps), 13. Jonathan Davies (Scarlets) (56 Caps), 12. Jamie Roberts (Harlequins) (83 Caps), 11. George North (Northampton Saints) (62 Caps), 10. Dan Biggar (Ospreys) (48 Caps)

2013 called, they want their backline back

I'm afraid you're right we are going to get stuffed I fear. Just a pity England aren't playing this weekend as the only thing that tempers a Wales defeat is an England loss the same weekend.

I'm not sure what people are on about? I'm sure with that back line Wales will aim to play and open and expansive attacking game. :p

You must have loved this season then

I really dislike some other Welsh people's desire to see England lose all the time. I see it as the better they do the better shape the Lions are in for next year.

This. Along with stupid nicknames for the coaches. Disagreeing is one thing but respect goes a long way even in criticism.

Stupid nicknames for coaches are all part of the fun of international sport though, just ask Warren Fatland

Yeah? What are the ones for the other coaches then, because I haven't heard them?

Anywho, I'm mostly just a bit grumpy from reading the comments sections of WalesOnline. Should learn my lesson and just stop going there, really!

Well, Howler for Howley if you've been laying attention. Lancaster was always called Bomber but that was vaguely affectionate.

It's harder to parody the other names but I'm sure it can be done.

Isn't it true they write all their articles on the toilet for inspiration? I love their player ratings, they put themselves as only 1 point less than the All Blacks not that long ago and rated every single welsh player above their English equivalent in the lead up to the game before Wales toured NZ :D

I don't know, was just being a bit tongue-in-cheek. I just don't think it's a big deal to use slightly unflattering nicknames, no disrespect to Gatland intended.

I wouldn't worry my welsh friends, that wallabies side is terrible........ cheika picks players out of position and favours the waratahs players over anyone else
just tell the boys to put pressure on their 9, 10 and 12, they will crumble and there will be a massive gap where their openside is meant to be because he's wandering around out wide
I might put a lazy five bucks on welsh

That is wildly optimistic, I think Aus are much better than results have shown this year. Personally I wouldn't be surprised if they got a GS tour, although I really hope we turn them over.

I really hope that Wales win tbh, not that I want Aus to lose but just to see Cheika moan about things, and maybe the Welsh papers will dress him up in a clown suit.

What comments on Wales online are you referring to, I've looked and see nothing much to disagree with, I don't know what you expected to see but the inclusion of Cuthbert is going to get supporters backs up and barring a miracle we are going to see the same predictable stuff as long as Howler is involved in the squad, winning tomorrow will just paper over the cracks, unless we start picking in form players we will remain in this position.

There you go again with 'Howler'. I think it's childish. As for which comments, just about all of them. They read more like Daily Mail headlines half the time, full of people who seem convinced that a professional rugby coach isn't capable of tying his own shoelaces and resorting to ridiculous hyperbole to get their criticisms across. Only Welsh rugby fans could possibly call a win against Australia 'paper over the cracks'.

To be clear - I don't think Howley is the right coach for Wales and there are several selections I don't agree with. But I see no reason to insult the man and refuse to call him by his own name - the attitude from the people on that website is deplorable at times.

'They read more like Daily Mail headlines' is the most over used pathetic phrase trotted out by Trotskyites to try and justify an argument.
